Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA) and works by dissolving the superficial layer of the skin, allowing dead skin cells, dirt, and oil to be easily removed. This can help reduce inflammation, redness, and the formation of new acne. It is worth noting that salicylic acid is not recommended for everyone, especially those with dry or sensitive skin, as it can sometimes cause dryness or irritation.
