If you purchase a toy with wheels for a child of any age, such as a bicycle, skateboard, scooter, skates, and tricycle, buy a helmet too (and elbow/knee pads, if applicable) and make wearing it a rule. Closely supervise children on riding toys and look for flat, open areas away from traffic for riding.

Did you know bats are one of the main carriers of rabies in Oklahoma? People and pets get rabies mainly from bites by infected animals, but there are several ways to prevent this. If you see a bat, do not touch it or pick it up.
Rabies is seen in skunks and in smaller numbers in horses, cattle, cats, dogs and other mammals. The OSDH Epidemiologist-on-Call is available 24/7 regarding rabies recommendations specific to animal bites at (405) 426-8710.
