It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Matthew Fleischman, PhD, founder of the Neurofeedback Advocacy Project.
Matt founded the Neurofeedback Advocacy Project with a heart for service and a clear sense of purpose. He believed deeply that neurofeedback should be accessible where the need is greatest, in social service settings, with individuals and families who often have the fewest resources and the most complex challenges. That belief shaped everything he built.
Matt was thoughtful, steady, and intentional. He cared not only about outcomes, but about how the work was done. His commitment to ethical practice, meaningful data, and long-term sustainability led to the creation of the Results Tracking System and to a model that values real-world impact over quick conclusions. He wanted this work to be responsible, grounded, and truly helpful to the communities being served.
Most importantly, Matt believed in people. He believed in clinicians doing hard work, in agencies showing up for their communities, and in collaboration as the way forward. That spirit continues to guide NAP today.
We also want to reassure you that the work continues. In the fall, Colette Melancon was appointed Executive Director, and she, along with the leadership and NAP team, remains deeply committed to carrying this mission forward with the same care, integrity, and steadiness that Matt modeled.
Matt’s legacy lives on in the foundation he built, the systems he helped create, and the growing community of agencies and clinicians bringing neurofeedback to places where it can make a meaningful difference. We are grateful to walk this path together and to continue the work he cared about so deeply.
We hold Matt’s family, colleagues, and all who knew him in our thoughts.
With gratitude,
The Neurofeedback Advocacy Project Team
