It's U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week (November 18–24).

Antibiotics are vital tools, but they won't work on viruses like the cold or flu. Using them only when necessary is the single most important step we can take to fight antibiotic resistance and protect the health of our community.

Remember: Talk to your doctor about the right treatment for your illness.

TODAY IS NATIONAL LUNG CANCER SCREENING DAY!

On this Saturday, November 8th, Oregon Imaging Centers joins facilities nationwide in observing National Lung Cancer Screening Day.

This day is dedicated to raising awareness about the power of early detection and improving access to life-saving Low-Dose CT (LDCT) screening.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death, but when found early through an LDCT scan, the chances for a cure are significantly higher. If you are a high-risk patient (current or former smoker, generally age 50-80), please use this day as a prompt to have a life-saving conversation with your doctor.

Take action today. Learn more about LDCT screening at oregonimaging.com.

Movember Check-Up: Let's talk about men's health.

Why the mustache? Movember is the global movement where men grow facial hair throughout November to spark conversations and raise awareness for three critical men's health issues: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men's mental health.

For us at Oregon Imaging Centers, the focus is on early detection.

Imaging plays a key role in detecting and monitoring conditions unique to men:

Prostate Health: Advanced imaging, like MRI, provides detailed views for diagnosing, staging, and planning treatment for prostate cancer.

Testicular Health: Ultrasound is a quick, essential tool used to evaluate any changes or concerns, particularly for testicular cancer, the most common cancer in young men.

Don't put off that screening your doctor ordered—early action can save your life.

A LIFE-SAVING CONVERSATION: November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month

LUNG HEALTH MATTERS: Lung cancer is a disease that affects too many families, as it remains the leading cause of cancer death among both men and women in the United States, claiming more lives than breast, prostate, and colon cancers combined. This November, during Lung Cancer Awareness Month, Oregon Imaging Centers is dedicated to shedding light on this critical issue and empowering our community with knowledge about early detection.

The Power of Early Detection: Low-Dose CT (LDCT) Screening

The most powerful tool we have in the fight against lung cancer is early detection. Low-dose CT (LDCT) screening is a quick, non-invasive imaging exam proven to significantly reduce the risk of dying from lung cancer in high-risk patients. When lung cancer is found in its earliest stage, the survival rate is much higher—sometimes even curable!

Do you qualify for an LDCT screening? Talk to your primary care provider about whether LDCT screening is right for you, especially if you meet the following general guidelines:

You are between the ages of 50 and 80.

You have a 20-pack-year smoking history (e.g., one pack a day for 20 years, or two packs a day for 10 years).

You currently smoke or have quit within the last 15 years.

OIC provides fast, clear results right here in Eugene, ensuring that if an abnormality is found, you and your doctor can take immediate action.

More Than Just Smoking: Know Your Risk Factors

While smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer, about 10-20% of cases occur in people who have never smoked. Other significant risk factors include:

Radon exposure: An odorless, invisible gas found in some homes—it is the leading cause in non-smokers.

Secondhand smoke exposure.

Occupational exposures: Chemicals like asbestos, arsenic, or diesel exhaust.

A personal or family history of lung cancer.

This November, take a moment to discuss your personal risk factors and your screening eligibility with your primary care provider. The life you save could be your own.

SPECIAL SCHEDULING ALERT!

Coming up! Don't forget that November 8th is National Lung Cancer Screening Day! To help increase access to this life-saving screening, Oregon Imaging Centers will be offering special scheduling on Saturday, November 8th, specifically for Low-Dose CT (LDCT) lung cancer screenings. This is a great opportunity for those who might have difficulty making appointments during the work week.

Oregon Imaging Centers is here for your lung health. Visit oregonimaging.com for more information.
