"The technicians and nurses were so nice. There was a fire drill and I was wearing one of those mammogram wraps. A technician put a warm blanket over my shoulders as I was exiting the building." - rater8 Verified Patient of RiverBend Pavilion

Happy Women's History Month! This March, we are celebrating the brilliant women who helped build the foundation of medical imaging. The technology we use to keep our patients healthy today simply wouldn't exist without them.

Here are a few of the trailblazers who shaped the field of radiology:

Marie Curie: She is famous for discovering radium and polonium and coining the term "radioactivity"-groundbreaking work that made her the first person to win two Nobel Prizes. Her practical impact on medical imaging is just as profound. During World War I, she realized doctors needed imaging on the front lines. She developed the world's first specially fitted mobile X-ray units, known as "Little Curies," and personally trained medical staff to use them to locate shrapnel in wounded soldiers.

Elizabeth Fleischmann: A West Coast pioneer who opened California's first X-ray laboratory in 1896. She quickly became an expert radiographer and one of the earliest advocates for X-ray safety protocols, experimenting with protective screens to keep patients safe.

Dr. Alice Ettinger: A renowned educator who brought spot-film imaging technology to the United States in the 1930s and later became the first female radiology chair at Tufts University.

At Oregon Imaging Centers, we are proud to honor their legacy and continue their commitment to innovation, safety, and patient care.

Meet Our Radiologists!
Did you know that every scan at Oregon Imaging is interpreted by a highly specialized physician?
Our team isn't just made up of generalists. We have radiologists with fellowship training in specific areas like Neuroradiology (brain & spine), Musculoskeletal (joints & bones), and Women's Imaging.
This means if you are having a knee MRI, a doctor who specializes in knees is the one reading your results. That level of expertise ensures you get the most accurate answers possible.

Service Spotlight: Fluoroscopy

What is it? Think of a standard X-ray as a photograph—a single snapshot in time. Fluoroscopy, on the other hand, is like an X-ray "movie."

Using a continuous X-ray beam, this technology allows our radiologists to see your anatomy in motion, creating a real-time video of your body’s internal systems at work.

Why is this "motion" so important? Because some health answers can only be found when we see how things are functioning, not just how they look while sitting still.

At Oregon Imaging, we use this technology for two key areas:

1. Precise Diagnostics - Whether it is evaluating your GI tract to see how you swallow and digest, or checking your joints for stability, Fluoroscopy gives us the full picture. It creates a detailed roadmap for your doctor to understand exactly what is happening inside.

2. Pain Management & Relief - For patients dealing with joint pain, we use Fluoroscopy to perform Arthrograms. The real-time video acts as a GPS, allowing us to guide therapeutic injections with incredible precision directly into the joint. This ensures you get the maximum benefit from your pain relief treatment.

You don’t need to travel far for advanced diagnostic care. We offer these specialized services right here in your community, combining high-tech imaging with the compassionate care you deserve. Visit oregonimaging.com to learn more about his and our other diagnostic imaging services.
