Let’s talk about breast massage therapy. In the last 10 years research has consistently made the connection between breast density and breast cancer, but very few medical practitioners have any practical suggestions for women who have dense breasts beyond getting more mammograms.
The causes of breast density are varied and usually many factors play a part in forming the dense tissue. Most of the time hormone imbalances, dietary practices, chronic inflammation combined with persistent restrictive undergarment use can contribute.
THERE IS HELP FOR WOMEN WITH DENSE BREASTS!
If you suspect you have breast density issues, if your provider warned you that you do, or if you just want to take care of your breasts please do not hesitate to seek about a licensed massage therapist who is trained and certified in breast massage.
Breast massage has only anecdotally been linked to a reduction in density, which means there have been no studies to prove that it works, but for practitioners like myself who work on dense breasts we have seen massage do wonders.
Five years ago I went through a transformation. I changed my eating, lost weight, and got active and around that time I met my massage mentor Robert Bike, LMT. He introduced me to breast massage and after several weekly sessions I was astounded to discover that my once dense breast had lost at least a cup size. I had always considered myself to be b***y, but I learned that most of my “bustiness” was inflammation. I felt lighter and healthier than ever and feel so fortunate to now be able to work with breast massage clients in addition to teaching breast massage certification classes to fellow massage therapists.
During a session we are working on releasing muscular tension in the muscle that surround and support the breast. We work affect fascia, suspensory ligaments, lymph fluid and create movement and separation of potential adhesion which may decrease density in the breast itself. The setting is private and the tone is professional. Please reach out with questions or to book a breast massage session with me.
