Greetings! I am announcing the opening of Inner Gate Medicine (https://innergatemedicine.com). This transition in my practice germinated over some of the dark days of the pandemic, as rates of mental health disorders skyrocketed. It has come to fruition with my practice of integrative medicine and naturopathic psychiatry which aims to attend to root causes of psycho-emotional and mood disorders, offering plant medicines and aligned therapies.

Plant medicines from adaptogenic to psychedelic can be powerful allies & teachers, catalyzing an inner journey of healing. There is wisdom in plant medicines that can help bridge the disconnect from nature that can characterize the emotional despair inherent in depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD and substance use disorders.

Inner Gate Medicine is offering Ketamine Assisted Therapy (KAT), an intervention that prompts non-ordinary states of consciousness that can promote profound shifts in perspective on self, relationships and worldview. Such a “time out” from ordinary mind and reality can decrease negative self-talk or obsessive thoughts and foster a more positive outlook on challenging life situations and relationships. KAT enhances creative problem-solving and fosters an increase in self-esteem and self-compassion. Such shifts can result in greater motivation for lifestyle and behavioral changes. Such an unfolding process can bring relief from existential distress and has the potential of initiating a spiritual or mystical experience.

Quercetin, such a favorite of mine! As if its remarkable anti-allergic properties aren't over-the-top enough, (particularly for us living in the Willamette Valley), this bioflavonoid is an answer. To the question of what can I do to optimize my anti-viral immune resiliency? And to know it is in common foods like russet potatoes (yellow skin), onions, tea(Camellia sinensis), apples as well as grapes!

The vibrant colors we observe in plants serve a different role depending on the organism being considered.  For the plant itself, the pigments may

(OMNS Apr 4, 2020) Recent research suggests that a compound called 'sulforaphane' may have both a prophylactic and curative benefit against ARDS and SARS-CoV-2. Sulforaphane is found in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and kale. It is generated by damage to the plant and is involved in protec...

Nettles (Urtica dioica): Each spring I look forward with great anticipation to the return of nettles to our farmer markets, neighborhood gardens and the woods! Such a humble ‘weed’ with such diverse and fascinating medicinal properties. For anyone who has brushed into the leaf in the wild, the ‘stinging nettle’ rash & itch are memorable. Yet those very leaves that cause such a sting, when dried and prepared are transformed into a potent anti-allergy medicine. The fresh leaves, handled with care, can be used for wonderful spring dishes such as nettles omelet, soup or even (my favorite) nettles pesto!
