It's National Volunteer Week, a perfect time to share just how grateful we are for all our incredible hospice volunteers. Our volunteer coordinator, Preeti, has this message to share about the amazing human beings she works with:

Our community is enriched by each volunteer who decides to be part of the end-of-life care team.

Whether they sit by a patient's bedside and offer comfort with an open heart, help navigate fear around death, listen to beloved memories with giggles and laughter, or help with administrative tasks, volunteers make a difference for hospice patients, families, and staff.

These volunteers are anchors of our community, sharing love and compassion in a meaningful dedication of time and energy.

We're grateful for their humbling and grounding gifts, and for the beautiful legacy they leave for the next generation of volunteers. With deepest gratitude, thank you to all past, present, and future volunteers. 💕

Thank you to Pacific Sports and Spine's newest provider, Dr. Edalyn Ko, and Senior Marketing Manager Jana Waterman for joining us last week for a tour of Cascade Health programs. The Pete Moore Hospice House gardens are always a lovely place to end a tour - and perfect for enjoying some (almost) blue sky. Welcome, Dr. Ko - we look forward to working with you!

We were honored to connect with Lori and Kristin from the Oregon Parkinson's Warriors Foundation's Warriors Gym last week, and to learn more about the program's offerings for individuals living with Parkinson's Disease, from Parkinson's-specific exercise classes to wellness programming and peer support. The gym currently serves around 70 active participants and, as it looks toward growth and the future, we're excited to find ways for Cascade Health to partner with and support such an amazing organization.

Today I had the privilege of meeting with Tara Hubbird, Business Development and Community Partnership Director at Pete Moore Hospice House and Cascade Health.

From the moment we walked through the doors, it was clear that this is a place rooted in compassion, dignity, and deep care. The environment at Pete Moore Hospice House is not only beautiful—it is intentional, creating space for comfort, connection, and peace during some of life’s most vulnerable moments.

We spent time exploring ways the Oregon Parkinson’s Warriors Foundation can collaborate with their team to bring greater awareness to the role of palliative care for those living with Parkinson’s. These conversations matter. They open doors to support, education, and resources that can truly enhance quality of life—not just at the end, but throughout the journey.

I’m so grateful for the time, the insight, and the shared vision. This feels like the beginning of something important.

Did you know occupational therapy is often called “the ultimate problem-solving profession” because of the creativity OTs use to help patients live as independently and actively as possible?

Occupational Therapy Month is a chance to give a shoutout to the incredible OTs at Cascade Health who help patients return to the routines and activities that make life feel like their own again. Whether it’s helping someone get back to work, safely navigate their home, or simply button a shirt after an injury, our OTs' impact shows up in the everyday moments that matter most.
