When you're looking to exercise your body, it's easy to think of the obvious choices: running, lifting weights, and yoga. But did you know that your brain needs exercise, too?

One way to keep your mind sharp and your memory strong is by doing puzzles—even if you don't finish them! Puzzles activate both sides of your brain and increase your attention span capabilities. They also reinforce mental connections that allow us to recall information from short-term memory. Puzzles are a great way to relieve stress and can even be used as a form of meditation if you spend that time thinking only about putting together the pieces in front of you.

So today's challenge is simple: find a puzzle and start solving it! If you start this challenge, take a photo of your progress and tag us so we can see what you've been working on.

PANDAS is short for Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections. It is a condition where a child's behavior and mental state suddenly change after a streptococcal (strep) infection, such as strep throat or scarlet fever. Symptoms may include tics, obsessions, anxiety, depression, and changes in movement and coordination. The exact cause of PANDAS is not fully understood, but it is believed to be related to the immune system's response to the strep infection. Treatment typically involves antibiotics to clear the infection and may also include medications and therapies to manage symptoms.

Functional mental health for children is an approach to treating children's mental health that focuses on understanding and improving the child's overall functioning. This approach considers the child's mental health in the context of their life, relationships, and environment, and seeks to identify and address any obstacles that may be impacting their daily functioning. The goal is to help children develop the skills and resources they need to lead fulfilling and productive lives. Examples of functional mental health interventions for children include cognitive behavioral therapy, family therapy, and skill-building activities such as social skills training.
