William Roy Doyle October 12, 1946 – October 26, 2025
Cleveland, TN

William Roy Doyle, age 79, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed peacefully at his home with his devoted wife, Brenda Clark Doyle, by his side.
Born in Maben, Mississippi, Roy was the beloved son of Roy “Brat” Jimison Doyle and Irma White Doyle. He cherished his upbringing in Maben, where he could often be found at his father’s movie theater on Main Street. His faith was nurtured at the Maben Methodist Church, where the foundation of his Christian life was formed and carried with him throughout his years.
Roy attended Maben School, where his mother was a teacher, and where he met the love of his life, Brenda Clark. At the tender age of fifteen, he declared his love for her, a love that would grow stronger over the decades. They were united in marriage on December 22, 1967, at Maben Methodist Church, and together they built a beautiful life filled with faith, laughter, and unconditional love. God blessed their marriage with a precious daughter, Carrie, who became the light of their lives.
A proud graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in Accounting, Roy also served faithfully in the Army Reserve for ten years. His professional journey reflected his dedication and integrity, serving as a purchasing agent for Weyerhaeuser Company in Bruce, Mississippi, for ten years, then continuing his career in Grenada for fourteen years. Later, he was transferred to Cleveland, Tennessee, where he was promoted to Regional Purchasing Manager, overseeing all Bowater mills throughout the South. He also skillfully negotiated and wrote contracts with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to secure power for the mills. Roy retired in 2009 after a long and respected career.
In retirement, Roy and Brenda made Cleveland their permanent home. They were members of the United Methodist Church in Cleveland and later attended a local non-denominational church near their home, where they continued to grow in their faith and fellowship.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Brenda Clark Doyle; their devoted daughter, Carrie Doyle Jones, and her husband, Dr. Shawn Raymond Jones along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who loved him deeply.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy “Brat” and Irma Doyle, and his grandparents William Ed and Lucy Doyle and Will and Ada White.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:00–2:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. at Maben Community Church in Maben, Mississippi. Interment will follow at Maben Memorial Gardens. The service will be officiated by Reverend Adam Contreras.
Pallbearers will include Glenn Clark, Zac Clark, Jim Wise, Aubrey Clarke, Waymon Betts, and Ronnie Betts. Wise Reed Funeral Home is honored to oversee the arrangements.
Though Roy will be deeply missed on this earth, his family takes comfort in knowing that he is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His life was a testimony of faith, love, and steadfast devotion — a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.”
