✨ Meet Ashton Thomas – CNA, CPCT in Our ER ✨

Greenwood County Hospital is excited to welcome Ashton Thomas to our Emergency Department team!

Ashton grew up in Towanda, KS and graduated from Augusta High School. She is currently working toward acceptance into the RN program at Butler County Community College, and we are thrilled to support her on her nursing journey.

She and her partner of ten years share a busy, love-filled home with three dogs and three leopard geckos—never a dull moment! When Ashton is not caring for patients, you can usually find her doing yoga, hiking, paddle boarding at the lake, or (her personal favorite) enjoying a good, well-earned nap. She now calls Leon, KS home.

We are grateful to have Ashton’s energy, compassion, and calm presence in our ER. Please help us give her the warmest welcome to the GWCH family! 💚

Meet Our New Foundation & Marketing Director – Rachel Sample, RN!

We’re excited to welcome Rachel Sample to the Greenwood County Hospital team as our new Foundation and Marketing Director! Rachel began woking for the hospital on November 3, 2025.

Rachel was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, and brings with her a diverse background in both healthcare and business. She earned her LPN from WSU Tech in 2020, her Associate of Science in Nursing (RN) from Hutchinson Community College in 2022, and most recently completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Oklahoma City University in 2024.

Before joining us, Rachel served as an Operations Manager at KDHE, where she supervised several federal programs, nurses, and distribution staff. She also has a strong background in business and marketing from the years she and her husband owned and grew their own business in Wichita.

Rachel and her husband, Jesse, have been married for 15 years and are proud parents to four sons — Conor, Junior, Christian, and Taylor — who have all left the nest. They share their home near Toronto Lake with their Silver Lab, Shiloh, and a lively group of chickens, turkeys, and guineas — truly a “funny farm”!

When she’s not working, Rachel loves spending time outdoors hiking, gardening, hunting, fishing, or creating art projects when the weather keeps her inside. She’s also working on building an “Honor System / Pay If You Can” roadside stand to share her eggs, produce, and artwork with the community — a perfect reflection of her generous and community-minded spirit.

Our Greenwood County Hospital and Eureka Clinic staff have been busy spreading smiles in the community!

Our Greenwood County Hospital team got into the Halloween spirit with a spooktacular potluck lunch! 👻 Staff brought in a variety of delicious dishes — some with very creative Halloween themes — and shared their tasty treats with coworkers.

A big thank-you to our kitchen team for providing the perfect addition to the meal — delicious taco soup! 🌮🍲
