Tomorrow is Small Business Saturday, and we want to remind our Eureka community how much your support means.

Small Business Saturday began in 2010 as a nationwide effort to spotlight the independent shops and family-run businesses that are often overlooked during the big-box Black Friday rush. What started as a simple idea (to encourage people to shop local the Saturday after Thanksgiving) has grown into a movement that strengthens towns just like ours.

Our community is filled with hardworking makers, dreamers, and small business owners who pour their hearts into what they do. When you shop local, you’re investing directly back into the people and businesses that make Eureka feel like home.

This weekend, we hope you’ll choose to explore, shop, and support the small businesses that keep our community vibrant, resilient, and thriving.

Millions of families across the U.S. were without SNAP benefits for an extended period and the impact is being felt right here in Humboldt County. No one in our community should have to choose between food and other essentials.

Lima’s Pharmacy is proud to serve as a local drop-off site for food donations this month. Bring canned goods, pantry staples, or hygiene essentials to our front counter, or donate directly to local food organizations in Eureka. Your kindness helps feed neighbors in need.

🚺 Big news in women’s health!
The FDA has lifted the boxed warning on many menopausal hormone therapies — reflecting new evidence that timing, dose, and route matter more than old fears.

Studies like ELITE (NEJM) and KEEPS (JAMA/PLoS) show that starting HRT within 10 years of menopause supports heart, bone, and cognitive health with a favorable safety profile.

This update also reinforces what we see in compounded HRT: individualized, low-dose, and transdermal options can be both safe and effective when monitored appropriately.

For National Pharmacy Week, we’re honored to recognize Robert and Ramona Lima, founders and owners of Lima’s Pharmacy. Together, they built more than a business. They built a legacy of compassion, expertise, and community care.

Since opening the pharmacy’s doors in 1997, Robert and Ramona dedicated their lives to serving Humboldt County with integrity and heart. Their shared vision was to go beyond traditional pharmacy care, offering customized treatment and meaningful connections with every patient.

Robert’s adventurous spirit and dedication left a lasting impression on everyone he served and worked alongside. Though he passed earlier this year, his commitment to innovation, mentorship, and community lives on in the work done every day at Lima’s.

Ramona continues to carry that vision forward, blending her deep pharmaceutical expertise with a passion for wellness and education. Her work in compounding and hormone therapy empowers patients to take charge of their health, reflecting the care and dedication that have defined Lima’s Pharmacy from the beginning. Ramona is deeply involved in the community, sharing her passion for health and wellness through workshops, retreats, and community service.

For nearly three decades, the Limas’ shared commitment to excellence and compassion has shaped the way we serve our community and their legacy continues to inspire us every day.

Raegan Lima, our Bookkeeper, brings a unique blend of business expertise and holistic wellness to Lima’s. In addition to her work here, she’s a licensed acupuncturist and business owner with more than a decade of experience in holistic care.

Raegan also plays an active role in community education, helping lead wellness workshops and encouraging others to take a whole-person approach to health. We’re so grateful for her care, insight, and commitment to the well-being of our team and patients.
