Allergies or a Sinus Infection?
One of the most common questions patients ask this time of year:
“Do I have allergies, or do I have a sinus infection?”
They can feel very similar, especially during peak pollen season in Georgia.Allergies typically cause:• Sneezing
• Itchy eyes or throat
• Clear nasal drainage
• Symptoms that worsen outdoors
A sinus infection, however, is more likely when you develop:• Facial pressure or pain
• Thick yellow or green mucus
• Fever
• Symptoms lasting longer than 10 days
Because pollen levels are so high in Georgia during the spring, allergies can sometimes lead to sinus infections if inflammation persists.
I put together a quick guide explaining what to expect during Atlanta’s pollen season and when to see your doctor.
