Providers attempting to prevent clients from working with doulas.

Failing to share the research, eve ACOG recommendation, can cause harm. Not just to their clients, but to other families who haven’t looked at the data.

ACOG = hire a doula.

🟢 If an OB isn’t recommending hiring a doula, they are not practicing according to their own ACOG standards.

A local pregnancy group was talking about OBs banning doulas.

❤️ Victoria and Heather started 312Doulas 8 years ago after having been colleagues and friends for years before that! What an incredible journey we've had with having now supported more than 1000 families during their births, teaching countless of classes & workshops helping our clients have the best strategies for birth thru postpartum. Don’t talk about how long we’ve been in labor. Don’t tell us how much further to go, or offer a guess. Don’t ask how we’re doing. We’ll be sure to tell you! Those questions bring us into our thinking brain / frontal lobe. That’s not where oxytocin and instinct thrive. Everyone means well, but telling us / it will be a while / we don’t think your cervix has changed / the epidural is always here for you /

Small little statements that rent space in our brain. Invite doubt.

Instead, Whisper these sweet nothings during labor. Affirmations, swearing, cheering are all keys to coping.

No need to make it any harder.
