💗 Valentine’s Day: Caring for the Heart & Shen

In Chinese medicine, the Heart is more than an organ.
It’s the home of the Shen—our spirit, presence, and emotional steadiness.

When life is stressful, uncertain, or tender (and honestly, when isn’t it lately), the Shen can feel unsettled. Sleep gets lighter. Emotions feel closer to the surface. The mind has trouble resting.

Acupuncture offers gentle support for the Heart and Shen by:
• Calming the nervous system
• Supporting emotional regulation
• Improving sleep and mental clarity
• Helping you feel more grounded and at ease

This Valentine’s Day, love doesn’t have to be performative.
It can be quiet.
It can be embodied.
It can look like tending to your inner world with care.

💚 Supporting your Heart and Shen is a powerful form of self-love.

💚 A Quick Practice Update

Starting next month, my acupuncture prices will be increasing slightly.

New rates will be:
• Follow-up sessions: $120
• 8-packs: $880
• 12-packs: $1260

This change helps support the sustainability of my practice and allows me to continue offering thoughtful, individualized care.

If you’ve been considering ongoing acupuncture this spring, now is a good time to purchase a package before the increase. Packages are a great way to support consistency and save overall.

As always, thank you for trusting me with your care. I don’t take that lightly.

🤍 Acupuncture Support During IVF

If you’re going through IVF, you’re carrying a lot—physically, emotionally, hormonally. Support matters.

Research suggests that acupuncture during an IVF cycle can be associated with improved outcomes, especially when treatments are consistent rather than one-off.

What I often recommend (and what studies point toward):
• Once or twice weekly acupuncture during the stimulation phase
• One session right before and right after embryo transfer (24 hour window is okay.)
• Ongoing support tailored to your body and cycle

One important takeaway from the research:
✨ The more acupuncture someone receives during their IVF cycle, the better the outcomes tend to be.
This isn’t about doing “everything perfectly”—it’s about creating steady support for blood flow, nervous system regulation, and stress reduction during an intense process.

Acupuncture doesn’t replace medical care. It works alongside it—supporting your body so it can do what it’s already trying to do.

If you’re navigating IVF and want thoughtful, experienced acupuncture care, I’d be honored to support you.

Reminder for winter ❄️👇
✨ Your kidneys don’t respond to motivational quotes.
😴 They respond to naps.

In Chinese medicine, the Kidneys are linked to fear, fatigue, and deep burnout. When they’re depleted, anxiety gets louder — especially in winter.

Acupuncture helps calm the nervous system, support sleep, and rebuild those deep reserves 💧🌀

Because sometimes self-care isn’t a bubble bath.
It’s a nap… and an acupuncture session 😉

If you feel more anxious or tired in winter, you’re not broken.
You’re seasonal. ❄️🌙

Chinese medicine teaches that winter asks us to slow down, protect our energy, and restore. When we don’t (hello modern life), anxiety and fatigue show up as signals — not failures.

Acupuncture supports:
🌿 Better sleep
🌿 Calmer nervous system
🌿 Emotional resilience
🌿 Deeper energy reserves

Your body isn’t asking you to push harder.
It’s asking for care.

Winter anxiety isn’t a personal failing — it’s physiology.
❄️🧠💧

In Chinese medicine, winter is the season of the Kidneys, which govern deep energy reserves, sleep, and the stress response. Chronic fear, stress, and overwork can deplete this system, leaving you feeling anxious, exhausted, or burnt out.

✨ This is why rest, warmth, and support matter more in winter.

Acupuncture helps calm the nervous system, rebuild reserves, and support deeper sleep — so you don’t have to white-knuckle your way through the season.

Hydration tip for winter 💧 A tip I learned from my friend and colleague Dawn Graziano L.Ac. at

Cold weather and indoor heat can quietly dry us out—even if we don’t feel thirsty.

A simple winter practice:
Add a small pinch of mineral or sea salt to warm or room-temperature water. This can help support proper hydration and energy during the colder months. And can help dissolve excess phlegm.

(If you need to limit sodium, skip this or check with your provider.)

Happy New Year! 💚

Instead of rushing into resolutions, Chinese medicine invites us to begin the year gently. January lives deep in winter—a season of rest, reflection, and restoring energy.

If you’re feeling slower, more tired, or less motivated than usual, you’re not behind. Your body may simply be responding wisely to the season.

Here’s to a year of listening more closely, moving more slowly when needed, and choosing care over pressure. ✨

Your winter herbal support kit doesn’t need to be complicated. A few gentle allies can make a big difference in immunity and stress resilience. 🌿❄️

Right now I’m recommending:
✨ Astragalus + Elderberry for immune strength
✨ Reishi + Cordyceps for stress + adrenal balance
✨ Ashwagandha or Holy Basil for nervous system support
✨ Vitamin D + K2 (a Midwest essential!)

If you’d like a customized winter protocol, I’m happy to help.

A small moment at the bus stop became the reminder I needed this winter. ❄️

A woman asked if I could help her over a snow hump. That tiny moment opened into conversation. Then my downstairs neighbor walked up and joined us and suddenly we were all chatting like old friends. Later, two of us reached out to help someone else across another snowy spot.

It struck me how naturally we step in for one another — especially in winter.
Community is Water element medicine.
Resilience isn’t only something we cultivate inside; it’s something we carry together.

Acupuncture helps strengthen the body’s reserves, but moments like these strengthen the heart.

💚 Stay warm. Stay connected.
