Big shoutout to Evansville Housing Authority, Young & Established, CK Newsome Community Center, and all others involved for making this happen!
Tough times call for courageous, compassionate, and driven leaders. The Evansville community is so fortunate to have so many of this caliber!

Not to be dramatic, but… some of us only know how to “do our best” by harming ourselves in the process.
✨ This is your sign to choose a softer way. ✨

🥖Let our community go hungry? Not if we can help it!
🎃 We know today is Halloween - our favorite holiday! - but the real scare for about 19,000 individuals in our community right now is where their next meal will come from.
🥪 Jacob and I put our heads together on how to help, and decided to make a sizeable food donation to Young & Established - an organization that works so hard to make sure everyone eats, without burdens of providing proof of need, or restrictions on how often you can go per month to get help.
🍅 Food banks are undoubtedly going to need some extra love and generosity during the course of this next month. We know that positive mental health is awfully hard to achieve when you don't have your basic needs met, and our hope was to support our community's mental health and overall well-being by making this donation.
💛 Everyone deserves to eat. Let's keep showing up for people in the way they deserve.

💜In October, we wear purple.
📅 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
👩🦰👨🏽🦰1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced physical violence, sexual violence, or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime.
⏱ On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States — that’s over 10 million people each year.
👧🏽👦🏼1 in 15 children are exposed to intimate partner violence each year, and 90% of these children witness the violence directly.
📈 Domestic violence accounts for 15% of all violent crime in the U.S.
🏥 Only 34% of people who are injured by intimate partners receive medical care for their injuries.
💬 Leaving is not easy — survivors often attempt to leave 7 times on average before staying away for good.
💜 If you're navigating intimate partner violence, we're here for you--Without judgement, without shame, and with all the patience you need.

🎉 How do you celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month?
🗓️ Jacob and I recently attended the Pre—3 Fall Fest, organized by Vanderburgh County Health Department, where nearly half the families spoke Spanish as their first language. It was beautiful to see the support of translators help families and vendors connect, allowing agencies to connect with populations they otherwise couldn’t.
❤️ Representation, connection, and the basic needs of being seen and heard remain as important as ever to mental health.
💡 Even if you don’t speak the language, there’s still ways to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! Check out these local gems that could bring support, festivity, and some quality goods and services!

HAPPY SIX YEARS to InnerSpace Center for Emotional Health! 🥳
In the hustle and bustle of work, we almost let the day slip by—but a kind soul texted our business line to wish us a happy anniversary, and we’re so grateful for the reminder 😊
👫 Jacob and Jordan started InnerSpace in 2019, with no idea it would grow into what it is today: a team of eight incredible therapists and a top-notch administrative assistant, a hub of multiple specialties, an organization heavily involved in the community, and, more than anything, many peoples' place of peace, where they know they can come to find comfort, a nurturing escape from the world, and support that is unfailing.
❤️ We are humbled, grateful, and absolutely blown away by the support we’ve received. To wake up each day and make a positive impact in someone’s life—none of us here can think of anything we’d rather do.
🙌 We’re endlessly thankful—for our amazing team, the behind-the-scenes experts who guide us in billing, legal, and accounting, and every single person who has spoken our name with care--Thank you.
🏠 Our goal is to be part of this community for as long as you’ll have us. Here’s to six more years—and many beyond.
✨ Thank you for making our InnerSpace feel like home ✨

✨ Let’s break down responsible versus response-able! ✨
🧠 Children need tasks they are “response-able” to do, in order to be responsible!
📝 It’s important to remember that ADHD is not a knowledge deficit; it’s a skills-deficit. (Hence one reason as to why a child or teen with ADHD may “know better” but be unable to “do better” at times, without the right skills in place.)
💡 ADHD expert, Dr. Russell Barkley, has a fantastic chart comparing a child’s biological age to their executive functioning age. Learning what your child’s executive functioning age is can help with assigning more response-able tasks to your child.
💛 When we match expectations with abilities, provide skills and empathy, and do a bit of learning on our own to understand the child’s unique needs, watch out - Your child will soar.

❤️ Healing after abuse isn’t only about leaving the harm behind—it’s about reclaiming the parts of yourself that were silenced, hidden, or reshaped for survival.
🧘🏽♀️It’s the steady return of deep, regulated breaths after years of holding them in.
🔎 It’s realizing you no longer have to scan the room for danger or walk on eggshells to keep the peace.
🎨It’s rediscovering your personality, interests, and joy—the things that make you, you.
🫂It’s reconnecting with the people and communities you were once isolated from, and building genuine safety from the inside, out.
📣 It’s hearing your own inner voice, clear and strong, instead of the echo of someone else’s criticism.
💭 It’s daring to rebuild your hopes and dreams without fear of them being crushed.
✨ Recovery is not a straight line, but every breath, reconnection, and dream is a powerful act of reclaiming your life. ✨

The creation of InnerSpace came together as soon as Jordan and Jacob did.
Jacob and Jordan met when they worked together at a local community health center. Jordan was beginning her career as a therapist, while Jacob was furthering his skills in community-based case management and skills training.
They kept it cool around the workplace, and not a soul there knew they had begun dating.
Wanting to further their careers, both eventually left the mental health center at which they met, and pursued two separate jobs -- but all the while, they were working a second job together behind the scenes -- creating InnerSpace Center for Emotional Health.
Their combined experience inspired them to form a place of their own that was different from the rest. They decided that the pursuit of profit never came before client care. They agreed on details that allowed for compassionate scheduling, void of removing clients for minuscule reasons. They followed the ruling hierarchy of needs for all individuals, insisting that people needed their basic needs met before they could ever focus on aspects of growth and self-betterment. Thus was the birth of InnerSpace Center for Emotional Health.
Much as an artisan works to hand-craft details of the final product, we strive to deliver personalized services to you. We gladly accept that no individual is the same, and that no treatment modality will work for every person. We embrace that you come from a different background than the person who walked in before you. We celebrate the intricacies that make you the person you are. As we get to know all of your strengths, fears, stories, and dreams -- all of the things that entail the lofty experience of your own InnerSpace -- we humbly express our deepest gratitude that you provided us with an invitation.
