Infertility, family building, and processing can feel all-consuming at times. It's important to stop and remember where we are. Right now.

We know you may have endured endless phone calls, paperwork, procedures, and barriers. Perhaps you've just scratched the surface, and are recently diagnosed with infertility. Or perhaps, you've been in the trenches for a while, and you're contemplating your next set of crossroads.

Wherever you are - right now - take a moment and acknowledge your strength. Your perseverance. Your grit. Take a moment and be present.

“Why? 40 years after my birth as the first American baby, are we still fighting for acces to care through insurance coverage?” ~Elizabeth Carr, United States first IVF baby.

Over 300 bills introduced in the Indiana General Assembly in January. NONE of them addresses the inequality and discrimination in coverage patients with infertility face.

🧐

We agree Elizabeth! It is time for our lawmakers to take LONG-overdue action to provide this care.

Equal access to healthcare for Infertility on the National and State level is a duty required of our lawmakers.

Why, 40 years after my birth as the first American IVF baby, are we still fighting for access to care through insurance coverage?

Elizabeth Jordan Carr (born December 28, 1981 at 7:46 am) is the United States' first baby born from the in-vitro fertilization procedure and the 15th in the world.

In vitro fertilization (IVF), was developed by Patrick Steptoe, Robert Edwards and Jean Purdy. Edwards, as the only surviving partner, was awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in Medicine for this work.

Louise Joy Brown (born 25 July 1978) is an English woman who was the first human to have been born after conception by in vitro fertilization experiment (IVF).

Her birth, following a procedure pioneered in Britain, has been lauded among "the most remarkable medical breakthroughs of the 20th Century".

Thanks to our friends at TMRW Life Sciences any contribution received between February 1 - 14th to RESOLVE in honor of Elizabeth Carr's 40th birthday will be matched 1:1 (up to $2,000 total). Help us all work together to expand access to care for other men and women on their family-building journey.

Myths VS. Facts!

A very popular, yet incorrect assumption, is that Infertility is a women's issue. FALSE!

Infertility EQUALLY impacts all genders.

30% Male, 30% Female, and 30% both.

In fact, some IVF clinics have reported statistics treating up to 50% or more for MALE FACTOR infertility.

Why is this?

Because of all the things that can cause Infertility, most forms of male factor infertility are only treatable by assisted reproductive technologies such as IUI and IVF.

Separating what is fact and what is fiction starts with representation, education, and people willing to share how infertility impacts all communities.

Currently, The VA does NOT cover infertility treatments such as IVF and other services unless they meet a VERY narrow window of requirements. And even then, they are often denied. It simply isn't right.

Did you know?

While infertility currently affects at least 15% of the population, availability, access to care, and quality of interventions to address infertility remain a challenge in the US? Currently, Indiana does not support insurance coverage for the treatment of infertility. And only 19 states offer some kind of coverage. 😳
