🎉Shout out to our PT Ashley for completing the Integrative Dry Needling course!!!🎉
We are excited to provide this service from now THREE of our providers!
Read on to see what dry needling is all about!
Dry needling is a highly effective form of treatment to address muscle and nerve related pain. It utilizes an acupuncture needle that is inserted into painful muscles to decrease tightness and relieve pain caused by trigger points. The very small needle helps loosen up tight muscles, decrease inflammation, and decrease pain levels. Common conditions treated through dry needling include, but are not limited to neck, back, shoulder, arm (tennis elbow, carpal tunnel, golfer’s elbow), headaches including migraines, jaw pain, buttock, and leg pain (sciatica, hamstring strains, and calf pain).
Dry needling may provide immediate relief of pain and improve the amount of motion the involved muscles and joint can move through. Due to the very small size of the needle, it is able to be pushed through the skin without causing a cut making the treatment virtually pain free. Other interventions are often included in addition to dry needling treatments to address pain and restore function to pre-injury levels. Multiple dry needling treatments are often needed to provide optimal effects, and will be determined by treating physical therapists.
