Did you know that the cornea relies on direct exposure to air for most of its oxygen supply because it lacks blood vessels? ☁

The process is called "corneal oxygenation", and is a big reason why wearing your contact lenses as directed is SUPER important. Overwearing contacts prevents your cornea from receiving the necessary oxygen it needs to survive, which can lead to corneal hypoxia and various other complications. 👁
