It’s completely natural to feel overwhelmed, exhausted, or even withdrawn after experiencing a trauma.
Many people find themselves needing space at first—resting more, doing less, and trying to process what’s happened. Those responses are valid. But over time, staying isolated or inactive can begin to deepen feelings of distress.
A gentle return to routine, movement, and connection can make a meaningful difference.
When we start to re-engage—even in small ways—it helps break the cycle:
doing less → feeling worse → doing even less.
Start with simple steps that can help shift the momentum:
• Taking a short walk
• Reaching out to a trusted friend (we're here to listen, too!)
• Changing up your environment
• Engaging in something that feels meaningful (even if it’s small)
Healing takes time and can be an ongoing journey. But small, consistent actions can help restore a sense of purpose, stability, and control.
If you’re navigating a difficult season, know this:
You don’t have to do everything at once. Just start small. Start somewhere.
And if you need support, the Evergreen Resiliency Center is here to walk alongside you. 💛
