We're happy to announce that Ms. Kim has completed her Basic Certification in DIRFloortime! Although she's been using the Floortime approach in addition to sensory integration strategies for many years, she has now formalized her training with a certification. Floortime (also known as DIRFloortime®) is an approach used to promote an individual's development through a respectful, playful, joyful, and engaging process. It uses the power of relationships and human connection to encourage the development of the capacities for self-regulation, engagement, communication, shared social problem solving, and creative, organized, and reflective thinking and reasoning. As always, Kim strives to make therapy sessions FUN and FUNctional, providing the just-right-challenge and doing her best to follow each child's interests.

The Building Strong Parent Advocates training provides information to help families build a solid foundation to understand the special education process while empowering them to be their child’s best advocate.

PEATC, in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Education, invites families to join us for our online self-paced training course, Building Strong Parent Advocates.

Families of children receiving special education services find themselves in a world filled with complicated policies, confusing acronyms and terms, and piles of paperwork. Often families find themselves looking for information and background knowledge to help them better support their children through the Individualized Education Program (IEP).

The Building Strong Parent Advocates training provides information to help families build a solid foundation to understand the special education process while empowering them to be their child’s best advocate.

A certificate of completion for 6 hours will be provided for all who complete the training.
