Shane Stamas, CADC II

Shane Stamas, CADC II Providing out-patient level of care for drug and alcohol abuse in Placer and Sacramento county.

I have been working in the field of chemical dependency for the past 11 years, with experience in both outpatient and intensive outpatient levels of care. Being born and raised in Roseville, California, I proudly offer services to individuals and families in Placer County and the greater Sacramento area. As I have personally struggled with addiction, I practice, as well as promote, living a lifestyle of recovery. My wellness outlook is multi-layered and involves treating the whole person, rather than solely focusing on the behaviors of substance abuse. Providing individual counseling, group therapy, and family counseling contribute in the overall goal of combating this complex issue. I attended Intercoast College, specializing in chemical dependency counseling, and have successfully obtained my CADC II, the gold standard in the field of addiction. I am passionate about recovery and strive to make a positive impact on individuals and families struggling with chemical dependency.

We cannot run or hide from our unresolved emotional pains. No matter how big or small we think these pains are, pain is pain and it will always surface if left neglected.

Compassion the single most healing act towards self, others, and the world. Also can be the single most difficult act in times of hurt, anger, and fear. It requires practice and intention to be successful at providing. But like anything else we all are capable of developing if the time is put in.

The obstacle is the path. We spend so much time and energy trying to avoid the obstacle because of the feelings it provokes with in us. Learning to lean into these obstacles with the proper support of community and coping skills unlocks a world of freedom and empowerment.

Being in the now, not the now of these times the now of this very second that you read this. Take a breath feeling your belly rise and fall, feeling the weight of your body, clearing the mind of past and future thoughts. Be in the NOW, this is all we have at any given moment. Offering yourself this practice daily will dramatically change your experience of life. In the current time we are in it is very easy to be swept away from the now and taken to the future of uncertainty or the desperation of desiring the past. Both of those are missing the now, try dropping into the now as often as you can as it is all you have.

Today marks 12 years clean and sober for me. My entire time in recovery has been spent doing exactly as this quote describes, “an unlearning, excavation, and Remembering” of who I am. This has been done through therapy, AA meetings, mentors, meditation, close friendships, and family members. This is a process that is still in action and will never end which excites me, because what this 12 years has brought me is only a small fraction of what is to come in my reintroduction to my true self.

Daily I work with individuals who have been deeply misattuned too throughout their lives and it resulting in the disruption of connecting to true self. This also known as covert trauma, more often then not it is pushed aside as “others have it worse then me” which compounds the trauma and continues to keep the person disconnected from the wholeness of life

More studies have been showing the power of epigenetic’s and how generational trauma continues to disrupt and impact the family tree. Sadly leading to more compounding trauma in a persons life, there are great innovate ways to help heal this now.

Changes to s***m may transmit epigenetic changes to children

The practice of loving-kindness is an endless journey. Some may find it easy to be loving and kind to others but neglect themselves, other may find it easier to be kind and loving to self but struggle offering it to others. This is a practice that requires constant attention and effort but offers priceless peace of the heart.

So much energy spent on trying to control and change things in our lives, often times while in the midst of trying to change we do more harm to self and sometimes others. But if we pause and try to seek to understand how we are relating to the situation, and how that is serving us new perspectives and ways of relating may show themselves.
