Babies are born with primitive reflexes that are involuntary responses that are critical for the early months of survival however by the end of the first to second years of life most of these reflexes are expected to be integrated allowing for voluntary and coordinated movements to develop. Our Occupational Therapist, Shelby McCartney OTR/L, can assist with assessing these primitive reflexes along with using fun/play based activities to support motor skills, sensory processing, and development with helping to integrate retained reflexes.
