đ Winter Storm Panic or Something Deeper? âď¸
If youâve been to a grocery store in the last 48 hours, youâve seen it: empty water shelves, bread gone, toilet paper vanishing like snowflakes on a hot car. What started as âwinter storm prepâ turned into a full-on anxiety express.
Our fear of scarcity isnât new. In his article "A Biblical Response to Anxiety", Adam reminds us that anxiety is born of scarcity - a need with limited resources.
Adam points us back to Jesusâ words in Matthew 6. Jesus acknowledges human need and points us to a supply beyond what we can see. The gospel isnât about pretending everything is fine; itâs about recognizing that our ultimate supply isnât on store shelves; itâs from our heavenly Father who cares for us even in scarcity. And the right orientation of our heart toward the one who controls it all quiets our soul and gives us peace.
So, if you felt your chest tighten in line at Target, youâre not alone. But when we experience anxiety, weâre invited to seek first the kingdom of God instead of the last 24-pack of water bottles. And that changes how we live now; not just how we endure storms, but how we trust God through them.
Trust in Him. Not because the storm wonât come, but because He holds us through it.
