COVID 19 INFECTION AFTER VACCINE POSSIBLE!!
BUT NOT TO WORRY!
Some people can test positive for COVID 19 after a vaccine. The reasons for that are:
- It takes a few days to a few weeks for the vaccine to work according to CDC.
- The two US authorized vaccines are highly effective ~94-95%, but they don’t provide total protection
- Vaccination prevents disease, but it’s still unclear if, or how much, the vaccine prevents all infection
- Vaccines don’t work retroactively, as some patients could have already contracted COVID 19 before vaccination.
- The new variant strains (e.g South African strain) seen now in US too, could provide less protection from the vaccines.
However, it is not a cause of worry because most experts agree that even if you do get infected the vaccine would prevent from severe infection and need for hospitalization.
