Mothers that make it past 42 weeks gestation should be given special gold medals. It takes a special kind of stamina to stay positive and trust the process that long.
Brittany and DeMarco had been doing the extra testing that we recommend at 41 weeks and they agreed to some initial home induction methods at 42 weeks but then, when that didn’t bring on labor, they declined the next induction steps and opted to take the next day to rest. It was a good plan, as labor started all on its own around midnight at 42.2 weeks and Ariel was born 12 hours later at 11:58am, a timely labor for a first-time mom.
We hear from clients all the time that they were told in prior pregnancies their body wasn’t going into labor because something wasn’t working right. “It’s because your cervix won’t dilate.” “It’s because your baby’s too big.”
Maybe you’re not in labor because it just isn’t your baby’s birthday yet.
Happy Birthday, Ariel! 7lb 11oz
