Dry eyes feeling a little more dry this time of year? You're not alone! When the colder months hit, the artificial heat kicks in and dries everything out, especially your eyes. Here are some things you can do to combat those feelings of irritation and grittiness:
🔥 Run a humidifier in places you spend your time- your bedroom, your work environment, etc (don't forget to clean them regularly!)
🔥 Make sure you're drinking enough water
🔥 Reach for artificial tears, gel drops, and ointments to get you through- don't be surprised if you need to instill them more often than you do in the spring and summer
🔥 See your eye doctor if you have any concerns or you feel like you need more help

If you wear eye make up, you may not realize there are some dos and don'ts! Here's a quick list of things to avoid and things to do. If you look closely at your cosmetics and see a little number inside of a jar- that's how long that product is good for (so maybe toss that mascara tube that's in the bottom of your bag next to your Victoria Secret lip gloss from freshman year of college..)!

January is national Glaucoma Awareness Month. Most people have heard of glaucoma but don't know what it is. Glaucoma, typically, causes progressive, painless loss of vision. If it goes untreated, the disease can cause a loss of peripheral vision that eventually ends in tunnel-like vision. Anyone can get glaucoma but those more at risk include:
👀 Those over 60
👀 Black, Asian, and Hispanic populations
👀 Anyone with a family history of glaucoma
👀 Anyone with a history of trauma to their eye
👀 Very near sighted or very far sighted people
👀 Those with a history of steroid use

How can you tell if you have glaucoma? You probably can't- which is why an annual eye exam is so important! While there's no cure for glaucoma, we can prevent it from causing blindness. Visit our website or call us to schedule an appointment!
