On Veterans Day, we honor and salute our veterans for their service to our country. Today, we would like to spotlight our veteran at Behner Funeral Home - Jim Salts. Jim served in the United States Army from January 1967-September 1969, stationed at Hue and Phu Bai, Vietnam as a postal clerk. He went on to work full-time for the National Guard from October 1976-September 2002. Jim served for 32 years-24 on active duty. Thank you, Jim, for your many years of service to our country and for your continued service and commitment to members of our community.

This year, we were offered to partner with a classroom at Pence Elementary-Fairfield, IA, and we are so excited about the opportunity. For Halloween, Ms. Tubb’s classroom had a party and students enjoyed creating a mini pumpkin to take home, making a snack mix to enjoy during the party, and creating Play Doh monsters. Thank you for letting us be part of the fun!

We are approaching both our goal and our deadline! Thank you for all of the generosity up to this point - stop in this week to donate to these organizations that do so much for people in our community. We look forward to blessing them with you monetary donations, non perishable food items, and a check from us. We look forward to seeing you this week between 8:30 and 4:00!

November is here, the giving season is upon us, and we are thrilled to bring back our "Give Back!" campaign! This time it will be a little different.

With the increased uncertainty for those with food insecurity, we will be making a $250 donation to The Lord's Cupboard of Jefferson County AND Golden Magnolia Sanctuary. Here's the fun part where you can help. We will match your donations up to an additional $250 for The Lord's Cupboard and Golden Magnolia.

You can bring your donations of cash or check made out to your choice of The Lord's Cupboard or Golden Magnolia to the funeral home Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. through November 14th. If you would like to donate unexpired nonperishable food items, we will be happy to accept those.

You have to power to encourage giving in our community. The Lord's Cupboard AND Golden Magnolia have the opportunity to receive up to $500 from us with your help. Make it happen!
