Service Animals at David Grant Medical Center

David Grant Medical Center is committed to maintaining a safe and accessible environment for all patients and visitors.

Only service animals, as defined under federal law, approved therapy animals participating in authorized programs, and DoD-owned animals performing official duties are permitted inside DGMC.

Pets and emotional support animals are not allowed inside the facility.

Service animals may accompany their handler in public areas but may be restricted from certain clinical spaces due to patient safety and infection control standards.

Be prepared to answer two questions:
• Is the service animal required because of a disability?
• What work or task has the animal been trained to perform?

No documentation is required.

Handlers are responsible for maintaining control of their service animal at all times and ensuring it is healthy, housebroken, and appropriately behaved.

For additional information about our service animal policy, please visit our official website at https://travis.tricare.mil/Getting-Care/Visitor-Guidelines.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe environment for everyone we serve.

Recognizing Excellence in Patient Safety

Please join us in congratulating 2Lt Savannah LaBoy, who was recently recognized as a Defense Health Agency Patient Safety Champion.

2Lt LaBoy demonstrated exceptional clinical judgment after identifying concerning symptoms that indicated an internal bleed. Her rapid assessment and decisive action led to activation of the mass transfusion protocol in the ICU, stabilizing the patient and enabling a life-saving intervention. Her vigilance, sound clinical judgment, and commitment to high-reliability operations reflect the standard we uphold every day at David Grant Medical Center.

The award was presented by Col. Matthew Streitz, 60th Medical Group Deputy Commander.

Well done, 2Lt LaBoy, and thank you for your dedication to patient safety and Ready Reliable Care.

Update: The planned launch date has shifted. We will share a new start date once confirmed.

New at DGMC: A Tool to Help Your Provider Focus More on You

Starting Monday, February 23, David Grant Medical Center will begin introducing an Ambient Listening documentation tool in select clinics.

This secure technology helps your provider stay more focused on the conversation and less on the computer by creating a draft note during your visit. Your provider still carefully reviews and completes everything in your medical record.

You will always be asked for permission before it’s used, and you can choose to decline at any time. Your care will continue the same either way.
