NorthBay Health’s Jubilee Weekend broke all fundraising records, thanks to generous sponsors, donors, and a surprise $1 million donation made by President and CEO B. Konard Jones and wife Denise. Before the doors opened Oct. 27, donors had already contributed $524,000. A live auction brought in $126,000 more, and a Fund-a-Need for a vital piece of aging diagnostic equipment raised another $165,000. That, combined with ticket sales resulted in $1.86 million total earned to help NorthBay Health enhance its Heart & Vascular program. Konard plans to retire Dec. 31, and said he and his wife wanted their donation to inspire others and “ensure that NorthBay Health will remain an independent health care system for future decades.” Watch for a story and many photos from a whole weekend of Jubilee coming soon NorthBay.org.

A Simple Mission With Lofty Goals

In the 1950s, a handful of physicians, business leaders and community volunteers came together with a vision: bring the latest in medical care to residents of Solano County, so they would not have to travel far for lifesaving services.

NorthBay Healthcare Foundation's first task was to raise the funds to build Solano County's first and only nonprofit, community-based hospital: Intercommunity Hospital. It later became NorthBay Medical Center. Another successful fundraising effort enabled NorthBay to open VacaValley Hospital in 1987.

The Foundation has raised more than $25 million in charitable gifts to provide residents access to state-of-the-art medical services, such as the NorthBay Heart & Vascular Center and Advanced Trauma Care.

From the beginning, NorthBay's compassionate care has been extended to all, regardless of their ability to pay, distinguishing NorthBay from other providers in a county without a taxpayer-supported hospital. It's a tradition that continues today, with generous support from the community.
