Community Nurse is a nonprofit, independent home care agency providing visiting nurse, hospice, private care, and wellness services to southeastern Massachusetts since 1916. In alignment with our mission to bring compassionate healthcare services home, we provide a range of comprehensive health care and social services to meet patient needs through personalized care in the community and within the

privacy of home. Importantly, Community Nurse offers all members of our community access to quality healthcare no matter the economic environment, amount of insurance reimbursement, or complexity of illness. We strive to exceed expectations and continue to develop innovative programs and services to meet community health needs. Community Nurse was named in 2019 as one of the top 100 home care agencies in the country by HomeCare Elite and received five stars (the highest ranking) from the CMS for patient outcomes.

On National End of Life Doula Day, we honor the compassionate individuals who provide comfort, guidance, and support during life’s most meaningful moments.

End-of-life-doulas offer a gentle presence to individuals and families as they navigate the end-of-life journey. They provide emotional support, companionship, and help ensure that each person’s wishes and dignity are honored.

At Community Nurse, we are especially grateful to have four dedicated hospice volunteers who are certified end-of-life doulas. Their kindness, compassion, and willingness to walk alongside patients and families during such an important time is a true gift.

We are so fortunate to have these remarkable volunteers as part of our Community Nurse family. Thank you for the comfort, peace, and caring presence you bring to those we serve.

April 17 is National Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet Day!

Take a few minutes to check your medicine cabinet for expired, unused, or no longer needed medications. Safely disposing of old medications can help prevent medication errors, accidental poisoning, and misuse, while keeping children and pets safe.

Be sure to bring unused medications to a local pharmacy or medication take-back location for safe disposal. Check with your local pharmacy first to make sure they accept unused medications and with your town or city for take-back dates and locations.

A clean medicine cabinet is a simple step toward a safer, healthier home.

Kathy is one of the friendly voices and caring hearts behind Community Nurse. As our receptionist, she is often the first person our patients, families, and staff connect with always greeting everyone with kindness, patience, and a smile.

From helping callers find the right person to keeping communication flowing smoothly, Kathy’s dedication and compassion make a difference every day. Beyond her role at the front desk, Kathy is always ready to lend a helping hand, supporting community food and toy drives and bringing compassion to everything she does.

We are so grateful for all she does and proud to recognize her as part of the Community Nurse family.

Thank you, Kathy, for all that you do to make Community Nurse such a warm and welcoming place. Your kindness, caring spirit, and dedication mean so much to all of us.
