Could you share a bit about your journey to becoming a yoga and/or strength instructor at Rogue Awakening?
⭐️ Years of chronic and reoccurring injuries from my own personal practice and seeing patients on my table for similar reasons, I wanted to bring what I had learned over my 2 decades of working on the body to help people move more safely in group fitness settings.
Beyond the physical benefits, what do you hope your students gain from your
classes? What’s the deeper impact you aim to have?
⭐️ I want my students to come away with a deeper understanding of how their unique body works - we are all built differently, and textbook “form” and “alignment” is going to look different in each body. I often think some frustrations stem from thinking it must be done a certain way. I want my students to understand WHY they feel a certain way on the mat. Teaching them their why is like teaching them a super power.
What’s your favorite thing about being part of the Rogue Awakening community?
⭐️ The reminder that no one is ever in it alone. I adore that we are such a diverse group that supports each other in our own unique ways.
Is there anything new or exciting you’re looking forward to bringing to your
classes or the studio in the near future?
⭐️ Apparently, I’ve entered my Powerformer Pilates era — and I’m loving it more than I ever could have expected. I’m excited to bring my mobility background into this new format; it’s challenging, creative, and hugely satisfying to combine so much of what I love about movement and the body into such a fun, new perspective. Between that and the launch of our new 200-hour YTT (where I get to truly unleash my geeky obsession of anatomy, physiology and Functional Range Conditioning on fully suspecting students), it’s shaping up to be a big, energizing, slightly sleep-deprived kind of season — and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
From Yoga Teacher Training and Mobility to teaching an array of class styles, Becka does it all. Next time you see her, make sure to say hi! We’re so grateful to have her on the team. Thank you for all that you do, Becka! 🤍
