Tonight we honor Mother’s Night, the sacred opening of Yule and one of the oldest holy nights of the season. Known in ancient Germanic and Norse traditions as Modraniht, this night is devoted to the Mothers — the ancestral women, mother goddesses, Disir, Matrons, and the deep feminine forces that give life, protect lineage, and hold wisdom across generations.
Mother’s Night is a time of ancestral remembrance, gratitude, and protection. It is believed that the Mothers walk close on this night, listening, blessing, and guiding as the Wheel of the Year turns toward rebirth.
