You want a place where your family can get the care they need, when they need it, from providers who make your health a top priority. Monongahela Valley Association of Health Centers, Inc. (MVA) is located in Marion and Harrison Counties, WV. We are a Federally Qualified Community Health Center accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC) offering adult and pediatric care, as well as ancillary services including: laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, optometry, case management, behavioral health, and social services. Our first established clinic is located in Fairmont, WV, and we have two satellite clinics in Mannington, WV and Shinnston, WV and two school-based wellness centers located at East Fairmont and North Marion High Schools. MVA has been caring for patients since 1958, over 60 years!

We’re excited to share that starting January 2nd, MVA is offering a PrEP Clinic with Andy Wagoner, APRN, NP-C, focused on sexual health, awareness, and prevention.

What is PrEP?
PrEP is part of a sexual health and prevention program that helps individuals make informed decisions about their health. It includes medication and supportive care designed to promote overall wellness and proactive prevention.

Andy has been a great addition to the MVA team, and we’re excited to see the positive impact he’ll continue to bring as this new service launches.

Care is provided in one convenient location, including visits, lab work, and prescriptions. Services are low cost, with a sliding scale available for those who qualify. DoxyPEP will also be available for eligible individuals.

⭐ Get to Know Your Provider: Dr. Bannister, Chiropractor at MVA

We asked Dr. Bannister a few questions so our community could get to know the heart behind his care, and his answers truly speak for themselves!

🩺 What motivated you to choose your specific field of practice?

“From an early age, I knew I wanted to work in healthcare, but I wasn’t sure which direction to take. I’ve always loved helping people and being the one others came to with their problems. After shadowing a chiropractor in high school, I was amazed by how many people came in with pain and left without it. That experience made me realize chiropractic was where I could make a real difference.”

💬 How would you describe your approach to patient care?

“I focus on listening to my patients. It helps me build a connection and get to the root of what’s really causing their problems.”

😊 What’s one thing you hope every patient takes away from a visit with you?

“I strive to give every patient a positive interaction. When someone is in pain, the least you can do is help them smile or laugh. I want patients to leave feeling better physically or emotionally and know they have a doctor who truly cares.”

🏅 What aspect of your role do you find most meaningful?

“I love my work with Fairmont State University athletes. It’s incredibly rewarding to see an athlete return to the field or court after an injury and know I played a part in helping them get there.”

📚 What professional lesson continues to guide you?

“I’ve learned that patients know their bodies better than any doctor ever could. Always trust their intuition.”

• He has a communication degree in ASL (American Sign Language)
• He’s a proud dad of four — and the soccer coach for all of their teams!
