Rev. Richard A. Deisler passed away during the early morning hours on Monday, October 27, 2025. He will be remembered as a strong, kind and compassionate man, forever faithful to the God he served.

Richard was born in Leslie, Michigan, on April 28, 1926, to Adlai and June (Slife) Deisler. He was number seven in a family of twelve children. Richard was raised on a farm near Lansing, Michigan, and grew to love all the aspects of farming - planting, harvesting, milking, butchering and working with the animals. He was in his late teens when he felt God calling him into the ministry but went to work for a local farmer for a few years before enrolling at Marion College (now Indiana Wesleyan University).

It was at college that he met the love of his life, Mary Dutiel, from Oakfield, Ohio. They were married in August of 1951, just after he received his college degree. Their first pastorate was a little country church near Hastings, Michigan. During the course of their marriage, they pastored at Wesleyan churches in Ottawa Lake, Hudson and Coldwater - all in Michigan. In 1981, they moved to Fairmount, Indiana, to pastor the Wesleyan Church there. He retired in 1991, but continued to do interim pastoral work in several Wesleyan churches in Indiana: Elkhart, Andrews, Brinker Heights and Countryside. Also in his retirement, he worked part-time at Fairmount Hardware, which gave him many opportunities to meet people. One of his favorite tasks at the hardware was fixing things - especially broken screens and windows. During his time in Michigan, he was very active in the maintenance of the Wesleyan Church's district campgrounds in Hastings. It was a job that fit him well, and he loved the work. After moving to Fairmount, he quickly became involved in the care of the grounds at Fairmount Wesleyan Camp, and he served faithfully there until he was no longer able. In all his work, he was blessed to be able to serve with wonderful people who enriched his life in so many ways.

Richard was a gentle man, but strong in his convictions and faith. His children would say that he could fix anything - the washer, the car, the lawnmower, the sewing machine or any other gadget that needed repair. He often worked extra jobs to help support the family, and he put out a garden every year. He was generous to a fault with those who needed help. It was not out of the ordinary to find an extra guest at supper time, someone who needed a hot meal and a place to sleep. He was one who showed up often when someone needed an extra hand, a ride or a visit from a pastor. He was the consummate pastor, one who loved his people deeply and served them whole-heartedly. Anyone who knew him would say that he lived what he preached.

In addition to his wife, Mary, Richard is survived by his four children, Sue (Tony) Melton of Fairmount, Marilyn (Dave) Woolard of Hartford City, Rick (Bonita) Deisler of Ottawa Lake, MI and Mark (Annette) Deisler of Marion; eleven grandchildren, Cassie Melton, Annie (Jerod) Cheek, Zack Melton, Breezey (Erik) Fox, Lesley (Terry) Dieckmann, Alex (Sara) Jamieson, Josh (Brandon) Lowe, Nathan Deisler, Abby (Nick) Bratt, Adlai (Emily) Deisler and Anna (Conner) Cunningham; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Wava Peterson of EauClaire WI, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place at Westview Wesleyan Church, 1300 W Sixth Street, Jonesboro IN, on Monday, November 3, from 4:00-7:00 p.m.

Interment will be at Park Cemetery in Fairmount IN at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 4, with a celebration of life service following at 11:30 a.m. at Westview Wesleyan Church

In addition to all the wonderful friends who helped in so many ways during the last year, the family would like to express gratitude to the staff of Heart to Heart Hospice and to our great caregivers - Joni, Kristina, Teri, Sam, Gabby, Ave, Bre and Tiffany.

Memorials can be made to Fairmount Camp, 711 E 900 S, Fairmount IN 46928.

Doris "Jean" Harrold, 99 of Fairmount, was healed of her physical pain
on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at Colonial Oaks Health Care where she had
resided for the last several years.

Jean was born on November 5, 1925 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, daughter of
the late Ralph E. and Catherine E. (McDonald) Reader. Jean graduated
from Central Catholic High School and enrolled in a fast track nursing
program in Fort Wayne where she became a registered nurse. Working over
50 years and well into her 70's, her career took her to Marion General
Hospital, the Marion Veterans Administration, Bradner Village, Dr
Grant's office and Dana Corporation. She started the Madison-Grant School
Nurse Program and served at all the grade schools along with the Jr.
High and High School. Jean was very proud of her service as a Nurse
Cadet during WWII. Jean was 25 when she moved to Fairmount and married
Hubert J. Harrold on November 24, 1951. Hubert preceded her in death on
January 26, 2001. After the death of Hubert she was the sweetheart of
George Siegel for 10 years before his death.

Jean was a tough lady who knew what it was like to live with daily pain.
At the age of three she was hit by a car causing severe damage to her leg that lasted a lifetime. She didn't let it slow her down. She was a farm
wife, mother of 2, and a hardworking nurse, with a positive outlook, and
an inspiration and encouragement to many. At the age of 90 she received
her first passport and made three trips to Guatemala.

Jean, affectionately known as Grandma Nean, was a wonderful cook who lovingly prepared many family meals over the years. Her specialties were meatloaf, chicken and noodles, vegetable soup, rice crispy critters, cherry pie, and pecan pie. Jean was a super fan of all of her grandchildren and never missed a game or match.

Jean was a 25 year member Phi Beta Psi and a long time member of
Fairmount Friends Church. She was a Notre Dame fan, loved to read and play
bridge. Her crossword puzzles were always done in ink.

Jean will be missed by her sons, Doug (Mary) Harrold, Fairmount, and
Jeff Harrold, Marion; grandchildren, Doug (Holly) Harrold, Summitville
and their children Maya, Cooper, Sarahn and Wilson; Zachary (Annette)
Harrold, Noblesville and their children Caden, Annie, and Anneliese,
Daniel (Hannah) Harrold, MI; and Josh (Angel) Randall and Jacob Randall.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Jewell
"Julie" (Paul) Wolfe, and Nancy (Red) Schmieman; and brother Donald
(Lavone) Reader; grandchildren, Kyla Jean Harrold; great grandchildren, Samuel Harrold
and Connor Harrold.

Services for Jean will be held at the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt
Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main
Street, Fairmount, Indiana on Saturday, November 1, 2025. Visitation will be from 11 AM- 1 PM with the funeral service at 1 PM officiated by nephews Pastor Brock Meyer and Pastor Ron Meyer. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Fairmount.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hands of Grace Guatemala, P.O. Box
404, Noblesville, IN 46061 or in care of the funeral home.

Meet Jim โ€” a proud Grant County native who has dedicated over twenty years to serving others. Before joining Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, Jim worked with Grant-Blackford Mental Health and later as an ordained pastor, bringing deep experience in grief care, support, and loss.

Jim and his wife, Shelly, have been married since 1997 and share three wonderful daughters. When heโ€™s not serving families, Jim enjoys traveling, keeping up with pop culture, and cheering on his team as a proud owner of the Green Bay Packers. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’›

Weโ€™re grateful to have Jim as part of our Armes-Hunt family โ€” where compassion and care come first.
