Canalside Therapeutic Arts & Counseling Services

Canalside Therapeutic Arts & Counseling Services Canalside Therapeutic Arts provides quality mental health services to children, adults, & families. In 2003 I graduated from Nazareth College.

My name is Emily Genovese, MS, ATR-BC, LCAT and I have been treating patients for over 17 years in Rochester and surrounding communities. Throughout my years working with individuals, couples, and families I have had the opportunity to practice in multiple clinic and community based settings before starting my private practice. I began working as a Primary Therapist at Genesee County Mental Health Services providing mental health care and treatment, as well as consultation services at United Memorial Medical Center. I continued my work at Rochester Rehabilitation Services, Inc. and I also worked for many years with children and families at BOCES in Fairport, NY. My approach to treatment draws from a systemic perspective focusing on individuals, couples, and families in the context of a larger system. I am a strength based therapist who believes that anything is possible when individuals and couples are willing to work hard to achieve their goals. I believe that you are the expert in your life and I will focus treatment on helping you recognize what positive change means to you, and identify how we can work together to make that change. I specialize in working with individuals, but I also enjoy helping families. The number of families treated at any given time is limited due to the intensity and frequency of your individualized care. Whether its dealing with depression, improving communication, conflict resolution, anxiety, mood disorders, or processing trauma, I will work together with you to meet your goals in a safe and comfortable environment free of judgment.

Walk This Way – Fairport is Open!
And will continue to be open throughout our renovations!

We all love our Fairport small, local, shops and services. It will be so important, over the coming months, that we support them. With Easter fast approaching let's be sure to purchase our Easter basket needs and gifts from our community's merchants.

Now a word about the project beginning next week -

The first project in the business district update is the Thomas Creek Culvert – it is being replaced!

N Main Street will close to through vehicular traffic on Monday, April 14,
BUT...
You'll still be able to drive down Main St. both from the north and from the south until you reach the area of Main St. Mercantile, Macs Philly Cheese Steak, Tony's Shoe repair and Affair de Chocolate. These businesses will be open and accessible throughout the construction.
If you need to drive from one end to the other end you'll want to take Turk Hill Road as a detour.
The attached map shows just where the culvert repair is taking place.

The great news is Pedestrian through travel will continue on the East (Main Street Mercantile) side of the street for the duration of the project.

It is our understanding that the project, and the street closure, will be approximately 4 months in duration.
During that time ALL shops and services will remain open!

Visit www.finditinfairport.com for updates.

Henri Matisse didn’t let anything stop him from making art. During the last decade of his life he created art with white paper and gouache called the Cut-Outs. It’s no surprise that my funky florals have been inspired by him. I have long admired his still life painting compositions and his collages. Now I’m obsessed with his goldfish!

Negative thoughts about yourself are really just stories your mind is telling you and even if they feel true, or are true, they don't have to dominate your life, especially if you can recognize these self-sabotaging behaviors.

This topic has recently come to my attention with students and clients. Sometimes the messages you need are revealed to you, so I thought I’d share this in case anyone else has seen this as a theme in their work or life. This is also a reminder to believe in yourself!

Someone needs to believe in them. Why not their parents?
