Hope and Help Counseling - Geneva and Macedon NY Counseling and Mental Health, specializing in Trauma Recovery, BPD, and Addictions Recovery. What I’d like most for you to know about me is I will listen.

I have been counseling in various forms and locations for over thirty years. I am a Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) and Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC ). I have worked in a regional substance abuse agency with dually-diagnosed clients (both mental health and substance abuse issues), for adolescents and their families, and counseled children (4-12 years old). More recently, I worked as a program therapist in a hospital-based Day Treatment Program, working with Severely and Persistently Mentally Ill adults. After I left that position, I began my private practice, “Hope and Help Counseling.”
I seek to provide the care I have long loved to do: helping people who are struggling with life challenges; emotions that can be overwhelming, and relationships that are valuable, but difficult. In private practice I get to give you the time you need to build a fulfilling life. I firmly believe that life can be better, and together we can find the way for you to find fulfilling ways to live yours. That is where the name for my practice comes from: There is Hope; I will Help.

Fentanyl and Xylazine are two drugs that are mixed with each other and other drugs to create even deadlier combinations. If you use, your risk of overdose has increased. Protect yourself. Hope and Help Counseling, among others, has fentanyl and xylazine test strips. I will provide them to you, no questions, no lectures. We will encourage you to reach out for help. The Truth.

I share this every once in awhile when I find myself “spinning” or going down my own dark rabbit hole. I literally study & treat trauma as my life’s work, yet I still have moments where I’m so triggered & completely consumed by the story I’m telling myself that I find it hard to function at my normal warp speed. These past couple of weeks I have been pretty high on the polyvagal ladder, friends. Meaning my nervous system was activated & I was in full freeze mode (in the flight, fright, freeze or fawn amygdala hijack).

Here’s the tea- no amount of scientific knowledge stops me from occasionally going to this place. What it does do however is help me to be aware of what’s happening, practice coping skills & self care & perhaps most importantly challenge my own thoughts (because thoughts are NOT facts) & the old narratives I’m telling myself are which are completely fear based.

I hope that sharing this experience with you, can somehow validate your own experience. Healing is not a linear process, for any of us, my loves.

I seek to provide the care for people who are struggling with life challenges that I would want for myself. People have emotions that can be overwhelming, and relationships that are valuable, but difficult. In private practice I get to give you the time you need to build a fulfilling life.

When I’m not working, I enjoy time with my family, playing music and handball, photography and kayaking.
