On Sunday, August 20th, Jimmy Craciun, one of our licensed funeral directors, led the parade of the Historic St. Mary's Festival located at St. Mary Cathedral, dressed in authentic Romanian costume. He also participated in a traditional Romanian circle dance! You can catch Jimmy dancing at all kinds of festivals around the Greater Cleveland area!

Burial fashion: A lot of centuries-old garments survive in the ground for a long time (because even natural fabrics decompose at their own pace—wool survives longer than linen, and so on) and are recovered by archaeologists. Thanks to such finds, we can learn more about the accurate fashion trends and traditions of a certain period. A lot of such recovered outfits are stored and studied in museums all over the world.

Cesar Chavez (March 31, 1927–April 23, 1993) was a labor leader and civil rights activist. He co-founded the National Farm Workers Association, which later became the United Farm Workers (UFW) labor union. Chavez was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the country's highest honor for nonmilitary personnel.

Juneteenth is a holiday celebrating the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. President Abraham Lincoln declared the proclamation on January 1, 1863, but the news did not reach Texas until two-and-a-half years later.

Since then, generations have celebrated the day as Juneteenth and forty-five states recognize it as a state holiday.
