Employee Spotlight: Meet Jasmine!

Jasmine is the newest member of our clinical team and one of our amazing dental assistants! Before joining Lone Star Family Dental, she worked for several years at a local eyelash studio that Paige frequented. Paige was always impressed by Jasmine’s friendliness, professionalism, and how she made everyone around her feel at ease. So, when Jasmine mentioned she was looking for a new opportunity, Paige knew she’d be a perfect fit for our team- and she was right!

Since joining us this summer, Jasmine has learned so much and recently became an official Registered Dental Assistant! Her calm, caring personality makes patients feel comfortable in the chair, and her down-to-earth nature and warm smile brighten everyone’s day. She fits into our team like a puzzle piece.

Jasmine is from Blue Ridge, TX, and when she’s not at work, she loves spending time with her boyfriend, Austin, who’s a farmer. You can often find her out on the farm helping feed the cows or relaxing with her dog. She’s a big fan of country music (especially the classics!) and keeps our office playlist fresh with her favorite old-school country tunes. Jasmine is a big lover of Mexican food and she hopes to someday travel to Colorado and learn how to ski!

We’re so happy to have Jasmine on our team! Her positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and genuine heart make her such a wonderful addition to the Lone Star Family Dental family.

Employee Spotlight: Meet Tiffany!

Tiffany has been a part of the Lone Star Family Dental team for two years and works in our front office as a Patient Scheduling Coordinator and Insurance Specialist. She’s often one of the first friendly faces our patient’s see- helping to make sure appointments run smoothly and insurance questions are handled with care. What Tiffany loves most about working here? “Our team communicates so well, and we don’t have the drama that so many dental offices do,” she said. “I love being able to help patients and make their treatment plans feel easy and seamless.”

Her journey into dentistry has a personal side- Tiffany experienced dental anxiety as a child after a difficult dental visit. That experience inspired her to work in dentistry and help others feel comfortable and informed about their care. She says that watching Dr. McElvain take time to educate and reassure patients has made a huge impact on her, both professionally and personally.

Originally from Wylie, TX, Tiffany served in the Army and lived in Louisiana for five years before returning home in 2016 to be near family when she was pregnant with her daughter. Now, she’s a proud mom of three - Brooklyn (8), Leviticus “Levi” (6), and Liam (3) -who keep her busy and laughing, always! When she’s not at work, you’ll find Tiffany and her family outdoors on scooters and skateboards or spending time with the dog she’s watching long-term for her sister, who’s stationed in Guam with her military family.

Around the office, Tiffany is known for her cheerful energy and for breaking into song when a favorite tune comes on! (Dr. McElvain says he can’t hear “Farmer’s Daughter” without thinking of her singing it.) A few fun facts about Tiffany: she loves Italian food (or anything smothered in her dad’s homemade barbecue sauce!), peppermint hot chocolate, and the Fourth Wing book series. If she could travel anywhere, she’d go straight to Guam to visit her sister and nieces.

Employee Spotlight: Meet Jyrriell!

Jyrriell has been a part of the Lone Star Family Dental team for one year and serves as our Scheduling Coordinator and Insurance Specialist. She’s the friendly voice helping patients navigate what can sometimes be the trickiest part of dental care- insurance! She takes pride in being someone patients can rely on to explain their benefits clearly and make sure their appointments go smoothly.

Originally from New Orleans, Jyrriell moved to Texas in 2022 after welcoming her son, Kylo, earlier that year. Jyrriell is a full time student at Collin College and is close to being ready to apply to the dental hygiene program at TWU. When she’s not at the office or school, she loves cooking, watching rom-coms, spending quality time with her 3-year-old, and attending Bible study at One Community Church. We’re constantly in awe of how she manages it all- working full time, going to school full time, and raising a busy 3-year-old. “Super mom” doesn’t even begin to cover it!

Around the office, Jyrriell is known for her ever-changing hairstyles- she loves expressing her creativity and style through her look! Her go-to coffee order is the seasonal Gingerbread Oat Milk Chai from Starbucks (yum!), and lately, she’s been loving the podcast In Totality by Megan Ashley- a faith-based show that helps believers grow in their walk. If she weren’t pursuing a degree in dental hygiene, she’d go to culinary school! And if she could only eat one meal for the rest of her life, it would be Lebanese food- specifically from her favorite hometown restaurant, Lebanon’s, in New Orleans.

We’re so thankful for the warmth, positivity, and professionalism Jyrriell brings to our team each day. She’s a joy to have as part of our Lone Star family!

Employee Spotlight: Meet Maddie!

Maddie has been a part of the Lone Star Family Dental team for almost 3 years as one of our wonderful dental assistants. She loves the variety her role brings each day and the chance to use her hands on skills in so many different ways.

Maddie has a big year ahead as she and her husband are expecting their first baby, a little boy, this December! She grew up in Wylie and moved back to the area to be closer to her family. When she’s not at work, you’ll often find her being crafty, spending time with her husband and their two cats, or catching the latest movie in theatres- they’re big film buffs! Maddie is also a huge fan of her hometown teams, cheering on the Mavs, Cowboys, and Rangers whenever she can.

Some of Maddie’s favorites include iced white chocolate mochas, tacos (her forever meal of choice), and rewatching Gilmore Girls and The Vampire Diaries every year. If she could pack her bags tomorrow, she’d head back to Paris or check Japan off her travel wish list.

We’re so grateful for everything Maddie brings to our team!

Sweet 3 year old Liam did an amazing job during his treatment last week! He lovingly calls Dr. McDaniel “Dr. Grandpa” and always asks to see him. Dr. McDaniel’s gentle touch and kind heart makes all the difference for our little patients. 💙

Employee Spotlight: Meet Colleen!

Colleen has been a part of Lone Star Family Dental for 8 years as our office manager, but her journey in dentistry started 12 years ago, when she was just 19. Fun fact: she actually met Dr. McElvain while working together at a corporate dental office in Flower Mound and after they had both moved on from that office, he asked her to come and work for him. At the time, she was pursuing a degree in early education, but the McElvains encouraged her to see how rewarding it could be to stay in dentistry long term. She says it was one of the best decisions she’s made. For Colleen, Lone Star Family Dental has been more than just a workplace; it’s become like a second family. She feels blessed to have built such close relationships with the McElvains, her coworkers, and of course, our patients.

Outside the office, Colleen and her husband of 12 years are busy raising their two little boys, Miles (2) and Cameron (6 months). Life these days is full of “adventure walks,” train rides, and trips to the park, which she says bring her endless joy. When she’s not chasing after her boys, Colleen loves crocheting, experimenting with new crafts on her Cricut, and cooking. Someday, Colleen dreams of taking her family to Disney World, but for now, she’s soaking up every moment of life with her little boys.

Employee Spotlight: Meet Courtney!

Courtney has been a part of Lone Star Family Dental since 2017 and has been a dental hygienist for 15 years. She is a proud Aggie and did her undergrad at Texas A&M in College Station and graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry (now Texas A&M) in downtown Dallas. She has worked in both general and pediatric dentistry, and while pediatrics will always have her heart, what she loves most about her job is making people smile and helping patients, especially kids, get excited about coming to the dentist. She says nothing makes her day quite like hearing parents tell her their kids couldn’t wait for their appointment!

Courtney actually has a very special connection to our office- she and Paige McElvain are childhood best friends! Their moms are best friends as well and were pregnant with them at the same time so Courtney and Paige like to say they’ve been besties since the womb! That lifelong friendship is what brought Courtney to join our team.

Outside of the office, Courtney loves traveling, going to concerts, and spending time with friends. She admits she is a big wine lover (Napa Valley cabs are her favorite) and when it comes to coffee, she’s an espresso girly through and through. She’s especially excited that her favorite season, pumpkin everything, is finally here! Courtney is known in the office for her big personality and love of conversation (you can usually hear her no matter where you are!). She’s a lifelong Texan, having grown up and lived her whole life in the Dallas metroplex, and couldn’t imagine calling anywhere else home.

We’re so glad Courtney is part of our team and know you’ll love her energy and warmth just as much as we do!

Employee Spotlight: Meet Cara!

Cara has been a very important part of Lone Star Family Dental for 5 years and is one of our amazing dental hygienists. She graduated from Texas Woman’s University in 2017 with her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene and is now working toward her Master’s in Health Studies with a focus in Dental Hygiene. What she enjoys most about her role is building trust with her patients and helping them learn how to improve their oral health.

Cara and her husband both grew up in Allen and now live in Melissa with their growing family. They have a sweet 2-year-old daughter, Penelope, and are excited to welcome another baby girl in early 2026! These days, Cara jokes that her favorite hobby is “sleeping when the baby sleeps,” but she also enjoys audio books, especially historical fiction, and listening to the Crime Ju**ie podcast.

Her coworkers will tell you she’s known for loving to chat with her patients and keeping up with what’s going on in their lives. She’s not much of a coffee drinker, but she’s rarely without an ice cold Diet Coke. Cara is a pregnant toddler mom, so she said that if she could travel anywhere right now, she’d choose an all-inclusive spa resort for facials, massages, and lots of sleep. A fun fact about her? She and her husband had the same last name, Smith, before they got married! And if she had to pick one meal to eat forever, it would be Chili’s Honey Chipotle Chicken Crispers.

We’re so glad to have Cara on our team and can’t wait for you to see her friendly smile at your next visit!

I wanted to share this review that one of our patients posted recently. As Dr. McElvain's office manager, I have seen him do things like this for his patients and employees without hesitation many times over the years, and I am so grateful that Pat took the time to share his experience!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"I have been going to Lone Star Family Dental for a couple of years now and a patient of Dr. Justin McElvain's. But early on in this relationship, Justin proved that he is much more than a highly competent dentist. He is a trusted and valued friend.

I don't often write reviews on anything or anybody but I think this story deserves to be told. Before we knew each other very well, I had an appointment with Dr, McElvain one afternoon. I was close to being late for the appointment because when I was leaving my previous appointment at the McKinney Salvation Army headquarters, I saw that my car had a flat tire. I was now in panic mode and did not have time to change the tire so I asked a friend if he would take me to Lone Star Family Dental which he did, just in time for the appointment. As Justin was preparing for the dental work, I was talking about my car problem and that I did not have a way home to pick up an air compressor which I thought would enable me to air up the tire and allow me to get to Discount Tire to get it repaired. Justin immediately said that he would take me home to get the compressor at Heritage Ranch and then drive me back over to the Salvation Army where my car was.

As a reminder, I had not been a patient of Dr. McElvain's very long and he certainly had no need or responsibility to offer to help me at the end of his long day and I certainly was not asking him to do so. However, at the end of my appointment, off we go to my home at Heritage Ranch to get my air compressor which, by the way, is not small and requires two men to pick it up and load it into an SUV. When we get back to my car in McKinney, Justin again helps me off-load the compressor, watches me air up the tire and finally, helps me load the compressor into my SUV. This entire ordeal took about at least an hour, as I recall.

This story is NOT about a dentist. It IS about a good man, taking the time and making a considerable effort to help someone else in need. As I have continued to get to know Justin even more, I continue to admire him even more as a young man building a career and a business and as a father and husband of a beautiful young family all of whom I have seen at his practice.

OH, BY THE WAY, Dr. Justin McElvain is also a first class, full service dentist using the latest in dental technology and practices along with an excellent and caring office staff.
Even my retired dentist friends at Heritage Ranch use him.
AND, I have even managed to overlook the fact that he is an Aggie.

Meet one of our favorite duos, our hygienist Courtney and one of our sweet "Little Lone Star's", Brooklyn! Brooklyn absolutely loves coming to see Courtney. In fact, she calls her “Rapunzel” and even begs her mom for extra cleaning appointments!

Courtney has a background in pediatric dentistry and a true gift for making kids feel comfortable and excited about their dental visits. She loves working with our young patients, and it’s easy to see how much they love her back.

At Lone Star Family Dental, we’re passionate about caring for the whole family, from our tiniest patients to adults of all ages. Seeing smiles like Brooklyn’s is what makes our days so rewarding!
