Many people think that tanning beds are a safe way to tan. But they're absolutely not. There's no safe way to tan.

In fact, indoor tanning can increase the risk of developing the two most common types of skin cancer. And using tanning beds before age 20 can increase your chances of developing melanoma.

Our new mobile medical unit - HOPE on Wheels: Health Outreach, Prevention and Education - arrived in Kansas City last week. Alongside the vice chancellor and director of The University of Kansas Cancer Center, Dr. Roy Jensen, MCA staff celebrated HOPE's arrival at an event with the Kansas Masonic Foundation and the Kansas Masons in Manhattan on Friday morning.

Because of the generous support from the Kansas Masonic Foundation for its purchase and the Cinelli Family Foundation’s generous commitment to the vehicle’s operations, this mobile medical unit will dramatically expand our ability to reach people where they live.

The vehicle is more than a cancer screening clinic on wheels. As its name says, it’s HOPE on wheels, delivering access and the power of early detection to communities that need it most. It helps ensure that no matter where someone lives, they have the chance to catch cancer early, when it's most treatable.
