EYT was established by Robin Rothenberg. Robin is a C-IAYT, and expert in Iyengar and Viniyoga.

Essential Yoga Therapy has two distinct missions: one is to offer a means for safe, personal healing to people living with chronic pain or illness through Client Based Yoga Therapy. The other is to help develop highly qualified yoga teachers and subsequently to provide comprehensive training in yoga therapy for teachers who are motivated to go deeper. Essential Yoga Therapy is run by the internationally renowned yoga therapist and author Robin Rothenberg. Robin has been training yoga teachers for the last fifteen years as an RYS 500. The EYT Therapist Training program was the first IAYT Accredited Yoga Therapist Training Program and has been since the creation of the accreditation process in 2014. Robin is also a regular presenter on Yoga U Online and offers workshops, trainings and clinics around the country. Scenes from our Yoga Practice as Refuge retreat in Red Wing, MN 🌿✨

Held at the beautiful Bluewater Yoga Studio, this gathering was a spacious, heart-centered pause—three days of breath, movement, reflection, and connection with our special sangha. Through breath, movement, and stillness, we experienced yoga as a quiet refuge where we could simply be.

Grateful to Carolyn Hedin, a member of our Zoom Club community, for creating such a warm and welcoming space at Bluewater Yoga Studio. 💚

This final retreat on Whidbey Island marked a meaningful close to our Yoga Therapist Training journey. As the culminating experience in our IAYT-accredited program, it offered a space where integration met embodiment.

Held at the serene Aldermarsh retreat center and nourished by Ayurvedic chef Aria Peterman, students stepped fully into the role of yoga therapist—grounded, present, and supported by community.

If you’re feeling drawn to this work, our Foundations of Yoga Therapy training is where it all begins. This 300-hour program is rooted in embodied learning, fascia science, and self-inquiry, and it’s the first step toward becoming a C-IAYT.

When it comes to Sacroiliac (SI) dysfunction, how you transition matters just as much as how you hold a pose.

✨ Awareness before action ✨

Holding a pose is powerful, but only when it supports balance and transformation. Without awareness, we simply reinforce the same patterns: tight glutes, a weak core, an unstable sacroiliac joint.
