Argumentative at times, quick-witted always, he had a sharp mind and a sense of humor that kept those around him laughing. Beneath that big personality was a genuinely kind and generous soul.

Carlos was born in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, to Ernesto Morales and Catalina Maldonado Rojas, and was one of eight siblings. He was raised in Orocovis, grounded in the values of humility, respect, and hard work, before migrating to Boston, Massachusetts at the age of eight.

From an early age, Carlos learned the dignity of labor. He worked as a farmer and chef on local farms and in restaurants throughout the Boston area. Later, he moved to New Bedford, Massachusetts, where he dedicated many years to Building 19, working in shipping and receiving. Carlos continued to serve his community through various roles, and for the past seven years, he worked as a deli clerk at Market Basket, where he built a work family he loved deeply and cared for as his own.

In 1990, Carlos met the love of his life and lifelong partner, Madeline Rodriguez Gonzalez. They shared 34 years of marriage, built on love, commitment, and mutual respect.

Carlos was a devoted and loving father to his four children: Flordeliz, Richard, Jeannie, and Kaelie, whom he cherished deeply. He proudly embraced his sons-in-law, Jeffery, Shane, and Cole, as his own sons, and warmly welcomed Jennifer, his son’s fiancée, and her two daughters as his grandchildren. Carlos also lovingly raised and supported his niece, Angelina, treating her as his own.

Though Carlos did not formally affiliate with a religious denomination, he lived with a deep faith in God and humanity. His life was guided by faith, family, and profound cultural roots. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family, friends, coworkers, and even strangers. Carlos had a rare gift—he made friends wherever he went. Those who knew him often said that if Carlos lived among his friends, he would have been voted town mayor. His heart was always open to service.
