Do you have an emergency plan and kits prepared? Seniors can be caught off guard and unprepared in case of disruptions due to weather events. Spring is a good time to get ducks in a row in case the power goes out or you get stranded in your vehicle. Fill a backpack with some supplies and keep it in your house or car. Keep devices charged during bad weather, just in case the power goes out. And have a plan to stay in touch with family and friends so they know you are okay.

This week marks Flood Safety Week. Remember to turn around, don't drown when you see water flooding a road. You can't always tell how deep the water is, so it could flood your engine. If it is flowing, it could sweep your vehicle away with just inches of water.

Did you know that March is National Optimism Month? During this time, we recognize that it can be difficult to be optimistic when we are grieving a loss. However, there are gentle and graceful ways to choose a positive view in daily life. For example, choose one thing that went right recently, no matter how small it was. Maybe you didn't fall on the ice that one time, or you are grateful you were able to go to the store. You can also be intentional about optimism by writing down your plan to look at things more positively.
There are many books about optimism and positivity. Check them out at the library if you are curious!
