She discusses what she sees in clinic and how to be aware of other issues besides hormones that might be causing symptoms at this time in life. A woman's brain undergoes major neuroplasticity during pregnancy to help her adjust to the demands of motherhood. So enough of pejorative comments and terms like "Mommy-brain"! That Mommy-brain has a capacity that most adults of that age will never comprehend or experience. More research needs to be done...but sadly while 27% of medical research is dedicated solely to men, only 3% is dedicated to women. Nothing to see here, just those bodies that bring forth future generations and continue the human race (ie the people that will pay for your social security and medicare and hopefully save the world).

"Mommy brain" usually means forgetfulness and foggy thinking during pregnancy or new parenthood. But more likely, the brain is changing to help us parent.
