Seeing you all connect and delight in each other's company is exactly why I host these events. True story: two husbands are now golfing together after their wives met at the March retreat. My heart is full!
Now… can we get these guys a foursome? I think so!
As tempting as it is to make more sound and frequency puns...
I want to make a brief plug for Emotion Code and then let you go. :)
I was at a concert Thursday and had a somewhat emotional moment...
“Have I just heard the Emotion Code theme song?!”
"DO WE HAVE OUR OWN THEME SONG??"
(Before you ask, no, it was not R.E.M or a cover of "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?") 🙄
I was at an Andy Grammer concert —my sixth one (I think?). People often tell me they’re not sure who he is, and then I suggest a song and they go, “Ohhh, I do know that one!" As much as I want Andy to be a megastar, I’m also totally fine with him staying the best-kept secret in music a little longer. :)
He's got great lyrics, he's not shy about addressing mental health, and he's a fantastic story teller. Before playing one of his newer songs called "Without You" he made a call to action. To let it ALL go! I admit I thought the song was about letting go of a toxic person, but he was clear about letting go of anything that doesn't serve you - the vices, all of it!
So what do you say? Let's get rid of some anger and anxiety, shall we?
Without You by Andy Grammer
Us against the world
Moving mountains together
That's what makes it hard
I didn't want this, but here we are
I didn't know my mouth could ever make this sound
So weird to say out loud, I think I'd be better without you
The walls are coming down, I'm reaching higher now
So weird to say out loud, I think I'd be better without you
That I could be happy, happier now
Finally figuring out that
I'd be better with, better without you
That I could be happy, happier now
Finally figuring out that
I'd be better with, better without you
I will brave the night
Take my chances, roll the dice
'Cause I can see some light
Coming through from the other side
The walls are coming down, I'm reaching higher now
So weird to say out loud, I think I'd be better without you
That I could be happy, happier now
Finally figuring out that
I'd be better with, better without you
That I could be happy, happier now
Finally figuring out that
I'd be better with, better without you
I didn't know my mouth could ever make this sound
So weird to say out loud, I think I'd be better without you
The walls are coming down, I'm reaching higher now
So weird to say out loud, I think I'd be better without you
That I could be happy, happier now
Finally figuring out that
I'd be better with, better without you
That I could be happy, happier now
Finally figuring out that
I'd be better with, better without you
Moving mountains with you,
xo Rachel
