This one-year postgraduate fellowship offers pharmacists a meaningful opportunity to serve diverse, uninsured communities through culturally competent care, health equity advocacy, and collaboration with local and national partners. If you’re passionate about making a real impact in safety-net settings, this program is for you.

Brain health matters at every age! 🧠

Today our EBYM team, Dr. Anwari and Dr. Demery, along with our APPE students Michelle and Nardeen, had the pleasure of presenting a Brain Health workshop at ALATE Old Town in Alexandria, VA as part of our partnership with Senior Services.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We were grateful to meet such a wonderful and diverse group of participants, many of whom shared that they also speak Spanish and Amharic. This was our first time presenting at this location, and we were welcomed with such kindness. The participants were incredibly engaged, and we truly enjoyed our time together.
We look forward to returning soon and continuing to support brain health education in the community!

Today our EBYM team Dr. Demery and Dr. Colón alongside our incredible APPE students Nardeen and Michelle had the privilege of presenting a Disability Awareness workshop at Shiloh Baptist Church in Lorton, VA. 🤍
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Together, we discussed what constitutes a disability, explored different types and associated challenges, reviewed medications and devices commonly used within disability communities, and examined representation in the media including how we can actively combat stigma and stereotyping.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We are so grateful for the warm welcome and thoughtful engagement from this amazing group. Workshops like these remind us why health literacy and compassionate conversations matter. We look forward to continuing this partnership.

🎗️ In honor of Cancer Prevention Month, today we presented on Cancer Prevention and the importance of early awareness, screening, and healthy lifestyle choices.

Our attendees courageously shared their personal stories and experiences with cancer, creating such a meaningful and powerful discussion. Together, we talked through prevention strategies, warning signs and symptoms, and other essential cancer-related topics that empower our community to take charge of their health.

Honored to recognize National Cancer Prevention Month by highlighting this impactful presentation at WCOA 💙

Pictured are members of our Educate Before You Medicate (EBYM) team alongside our current APPE student, Taha, sharing the importance of cancer prevention. This annual initiative reminds us that nearly 40–50% of cancer cases and about 44% of cancer deaths are preventable through healthy lifestyle choices such as to***co cessation, balanced nutrition, and regular screenings.

🩸✨ Blood Donation Awareness Month = meaningful conversations + lots of fun!

Today, our team—APPE student Taha, Dr. Demery, and Dr. Anwari—visited Lorton Community Center to lead a workshop on Blood Donation Awareness. The seniors were so engaged and asked a great question: “Can someone donate blood at any age?” 👏🏽

We talked about the lifesaving importance of donating blood, cleared up common myths, and shared simple ways everyone can support this cause 💙
