We are so grateful to have held a Women’s Cancer Prevention and Screening Workshop on Wednesday, October 15th, at Dar Al-Hijrah! 💗
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A heartfelt thank you to our incredible presenters, Dr. Nazaneen and Dr. Lamba, for delivering vital health education in the community’s native language. Your knowledge, compassion, and clarity made a lasting impact.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We also extend our deepest appreciation to the INOVA Saville team for your continued partnership and the engaging models and demonstrations that helped participants connect to the material in such a meaningful way.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
📊 Pre- and post-workshop surveys showed participants found the session highly beneficial, with many sharing how much they learned and appreciated the opportunity.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In addition, our team prepared self-care kits for all women attendees 💕 Each kit included women’s vitamins, lip therapy Vaseline, travel-size tissue packets, lotion, and aluminum-free deodorant — small but meaningful items to promote everyday wellness and self-care.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We’re excited that the women who attended will now be connected to preventive care services such as Pap smears and mammograms through INOVA — a crucial step in promoting early detection and health equity for refugee and underserved populations.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Together, we’re empowering women with knowledge, care, and hope. 💕

✨ October is ADHD Awareness Month! ✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This month is dedicated to raising awareness about Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) — promoting understanding, compassion, and support for individuals and families affected by this condition.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Today, October 14th, our NSC team visited the Wellness Center for Older Adults (WCOA) at Braddock Glen, where we presented on ADHD — covering an overview, symptoms, and management strategies to help increase awareness and understanding. 💡

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

As a fun giveaway, participants received fidget spinners 🌀 — a hit during our workshop activity, a word search on ADHD terms!

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We love visiting WCOA each month and can’t wait to return next month to present on Alzheimer’s Disease in honor of National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month. 💜
