Advanced ACL rehab isn’t about just “graduating” from basic exercises — it’s about restoring real-life strength, stability, and confidence.

In outpatient PT, once swelling is down and foundational strength is back, we progress to:

• Progressive, heavy lower extremity strengthening
• Single-leg loading & symmetry work
• Sit ↔ stand power
• Dynamic balance & uneven surface work
• Deceleration and controlled directional changes
• Objective functional testing (not just “it feels good”)

After an ACL injury or reconstruction, rehab should prepare you for:

• Busy workdays
• Long walks
• Chasing kids
• Navigating crowds, stairs, and uneven surfaces

Today one of our patients is sharing a great desensitization technique after an amputation. When an amputation occurs, nerve pathways rewire, which can make the area very sensitive 😬

Button removal from therapy putty is used to wake up sensation, coordination, and confidence after finger amputation.

Today, the therapist will demonstrate how to safely get up from the floor following a fall, followed by the patient’s return demonstration. Learning how to get up safely is an important skill for people of all ages and conditions and is essential for promoting independence and reducing injury risk.
