In OT this week, we used an “imaginary clock” on a blank wall, and it’s more powerful than it looks. After a stroke, this simple exercise helps rebuild spatial awareness, improve visual scanning, boost attention, and retrain the body to move with purpose. Sometimes the most low-tech tools make the biggest impact in recovery.

Today Luis is going to demonstrate the 30 second chair stand test! Read below for more info on this assessment! ⬇️

The 30 second chair stand test is one of the most telling strength screens we use in PT. It measures how many times you can stand up and sit down from a standard chair in 30 seconds — and gives us a quick snapshot of lower body strength + functional endurance.

Why does it matter? Because this exact movement shows up in real life every single day. Getting out of the car. The couch. The toilet. The dining chair. Independence + strength comes down to these basics.

So if you’ve never had this screened — ask your PT. Lower body strength is protective, preventative, and keeps you moving well as you age.

Did you know that TMD, or temporomandibular disorder, is a common issue that can cause pain or tightness in your jaw, face, and neck?

The good news is that it can often be managed with physical therapy and small lifestyle changes.

At Allied Health Solutions, our therapists use stretches, hands-on techniques, and dry needling to help reduce pain and improve jaw movement.

If you’ve been dealing with jaw discomfort or clicking, we can help. Schedule an appointment today!

Today one of our patients is showing you a modified RDL 🏋🏼

As we get older, it’s easy to think we just need to “take it easy” — but our bodies actually crave movement and strength! Weight training supports bone density, balance, joint health, and the ability to do all the things that make life enjoyable. Things like carrying groceries, hiking with friends, or playing with grandkids — strength training keeps you doing you for years to come.

Jenga is a fan favorite in our clinic for our patients participating in hand therapy! Jenga helps with finger strength, coordination, and control (and adds a little bit extra fun to your session!) 😜👏🏼

Today one of our OTs is going to show you how to strengthen the tiny but mighty muscles inside your hands/fingers (aka your intrinsic hand muscles). These muscles help with grip, coordination, and fine motor skills. Think buttoning a shirt, holding a pen, or even opening a stubborn jar. Strengthening these muscles can make daily tasks easier, improve dexterity, and even prevent fatigue! Give it a try and let us know how it feels!🤭
