Reminder: Our groups don't meet during public school vacation this week! Looking for something fun to do as a family?

🧣Bundle up and get outside to enjoy the sights and scents of winter... look for icicles and animal tracks, listen for chickadees, cardinals and other winter birds! Did you know that when the outside temp is 25°F or lower, you can blow bubbles and watch how they instantly freeze!

📚 Looking for something more structured? There are many free family programs happening this week around town! Check out our Special Events page (http://thecoalitionforchildren.org/specialevents) for info on programs at , Falmouth Public Library , West Falmouth Library , , and Falmouth Recreation Department

We're celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence!

During our first week of "Red, White & Blue in Falmouth Too!" we learned about the Declaration of Independence and made our own "Kid Proclamations" mentioning things that would make it better for ever

The children used play dough and/or construction paper to make American flags then marched with the paper flags to the song "You're a Grand Old Flag."

We also made a visit to the barn on the museum property to see some of the different flags in the museum's collection that have been used as the American flag over the years.

A big THANK YOU to Falmouth Museums on the Green for sharing their art and artifacts to inspire us!

This week our little artists read "Over in the Arctic Where the Cold Wind Blows" written by , illustrated by Eastham resident Jill Dubin

They painted the snow with spray bottles/food coloring and constructed igloo with paint, lego blocks, and biodegradable packing peanuts! Open-ended "process art" activities celebrate the process not the product, an essential part to fostering a child's creativity! There are so many fun ways to bring nature activities indoors for little ones while practicing fine motor skills such as cutting, tearing, pinching, gluing, scooping, mixing, smashing and finger painting.

Bring the fun into your home with our online library of activity lists: http://www.thecoalitionforchildren.org/playathome

All of our programs are offered at no cost thanks to the Coordinated Family & Community Engagement (CFCE) grant from MA Dept of Early Education and Care through Falmouth Public Schools - Massachusetts

Tonight’s CFCE Community Council meeting is cancelled. We hope to see you next month!

What is the CFCE Community Council?

The Coalition for Children administers a Coordinated Family and Community Engagement (CFCE) grant serving Falmouth and Mashpee. This grant, which is supported by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care, provides programs and services for families with young children, age birth through kindergarten.

Each CFCE program is overseen by a council of parents, public school staff, family child care providers, businesses and programs that serve families with young children. The council builds community partnerships that improve services for families with young children by responding to their needs. Thus, the Coalition for Children’s programs and services are discussed by the council, based on the unique needs of our community.
