This week our little artists read “A Pinecone" written and illustrated by Helen Yoon: Illustration and "Oh, Olive" written and illustrated by Lian Cho before rolling pinecones in a box with fall paint colors to make these beautiful designs.

Open-ended "process art" activities celebrate the process not the product, an essential part to fostering a child's creativity! There are so many fun ways to bring nature activities indoors for little ones while practicing fine motor skills such as cutting, tearing, pinching, gluing, scooping, mixing, smashing and finger painting.

A big THANK YOU to Falmouth Museums on the Green for hosting this unique program with Mary Wilson! 🧑‍🍳👩‍🍳🍽️

Last week we had our first in the series, "Someone's in the Kitchen at the Museum," a program in collaboration with The Coalition for Children. 👩‍🍳 Everyone had a lot of fun!

A 4-part series with Mary Wilson, from The Coalition for Children, along with staff from the Museums on the Green, exploring museum objects related to cooking and life in the kitchen, followed by a craft and hands-on activity to take home.

In each session, the families will explore a museum object that is related to cooking and domestic life in the kitchen and listen to a related story. Afterward, they will engage in a craft and activity based on the topic of the day’s story. The sessions are designed to be interactive, educational and fun for the children.

A big THANK YOU to Miss Becky and the staff at West Falmouth Library for hosting our October “STEAM for Kids” with Mary Wilson!

Our little engineers learned how cranberries grow and get harvested then made cranberry rafts and floated them in water. They practiced counting and estimating seeds in a pumpkin, used tools to learned about leaves and leaf structure and then made the apex/mid rib/veins using their own handprints. They also made pumpkins from playdoh, with pumpkin seeds and cinnamon stick stems.
