As we recognize Second Chance Month this April here at Achieve Recovery Homes we reached out to some of our alumni to share their stories of recovery and resilience. These testimonies are a powerful reminder that change is possible and that a second chance can lead to a meaningful life.
Today, we’re honored to share Dustin’s story:
"I moved into Achieve Recovery Homes in February 2023, I was 2 months clean from m**h for the first time in 20 years. I had basically given away everything important in my life, family, job.....everything. I was lost, I knew I wanted to be clean, but I really didnt know how to live sober. That's where everyone at Achieve came in, they welcomed me with open arms, they treated me like we had known each other for years, within a couple days I was able to find solid employment, started attending NA meetings with other guys from the house. I could come home and there was always someone there that was willing to sit down and talk which was huge part of my recovery, So I was being held accountable for my actions, which as a 20 year addict I wasn't used to. After living there for around 5 months I was able to find my own place thanks again to resources obtained from staff. That was about 3 years ago, ive been m**h free for 3 years 4months now. My children finally have their dad back, my mom finally has her son back, and for the first time since I was a teenager I can finally say.....life is good 👍 Thanks Achieve Recovery Homes for helping me when I needed it most." -Dustin
