Learn Nāḍī Shodhana ✨🧘
The Sanskrit word Nāḍī translates to tube, vessel, or pipe, and refers to the channels through which prana, our life force energy, can flow.
We have over 72,000 nāḍīs throughout our physical and subtle body. 🤯
The physical channels are known to carry nutrients and air to the veins, nerves, lymph canals, and so on.
The subtle channels carry cosmic, seminal, mental, and intellectual energies that aid our senses, aura, and consciousness.
Nāḍī Shodhana (Alternate Nostril Breathing) is the breathwork practice of purifying these energy channels, allowing for better energy flow, balance, and reduced stress. 😌
The practice can be taught in different ways, but it is often performed in a seated position during the early morning hours.
——
Start with some deep inhales and slow exhales.
Place your index and middle finger of the right hand at eyebrow center.
Use the right thumb to close the right nostril. Exhale gently through the left nostril.
Keeping the right nostril closed, inhale through the left nostril.
Close the left nostril, exhale out the right.
Gently inhale through the right, exhale out the left.
You will alternately use the right thumb to close the right nostril and the right ring and pinky fingers to close the left nostril.
When you are ready to close your practice, complete your final round of with an exhalation through the left nostril.
Relax your right hand back to your lap. Take serval full deep breaths before returning to normal. As you do, notice your state of mind.
——
Nadi shodhana can be rewarding, even when practiced for as little as five minutes on a regular basis. 🤍✌️
