Sepsis is the body’s extreme immune response to an existing infection and can lead to widespread tissue and organ failure if not treated quickly. According to the Sepsis Alliance, sepsis kills 350,000 adults in the U.S. annually.

For those who have experienced a septic event, they and their loved ones know that TIME was of the essence. February 8-14 is Sepsis Survivor Week, honoring and supporting the experiences of those who have overcome sepsis. Learn the T.I.M.E. acronym to understand how to spot sepsis symptoms and get timely treatment.
T: Temperature (elevated or lowered body temperature)
I: Infection symptoms
M: Mental decline
E: Extremely ill

National Cancer Prevention Month during February is a great opportunity to take control of your health to lower your cancer risk! According to the American Association for Cancer Research, more than 40 percent of two million cancer cases diagnosed in 2023 and half of the 600,000 who died from it can be attributed to preventable causes like smoking, excess body weight, physical inactivity, and excessive sun exposure.

Some types of cancer can be prevented or caught in the very early stages by knowing if you have a family history of it and getting screenings as appropriate based on your age, risk level, and other factors.

By spreading awareness about cancer screenings, lifestyle changes, and research, we can help prevent cancer diagnoses together!

Winter can feel like a tough time for staying active. But National Healthy Weight Week January 18-24 is a time to recommit to healthy habits. Start small, set attainable goals, and do activities you enjoy. Just getting your body moving is a great place to start!

Other factors include eating a balanced diet that includes whole foods, cutting back on alcohol and to***co, and getting quality sleep, and giving your body a chance to recharge when it’s needed.

Winter sports like skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, snowmobiling, and sledding offer fun and offer exhilirating opportunities to stay active during these colder months.

But winter sports combined with sometimes hazardous winter conditions can increase the risk of a traumatic head injury. Winter Sports Tramuatic Brain Injury Awareness Month during January reminds us to stay vigilant and take proper precautions to prevent these types of injuries while still enjoying winter activities.

In the event of a concussion or other TBI, PAM Health specialized brain injury programs helps patients maximize their physical and cognitive recoveries so they can get back to doing the things they love: https://nuvi.me/0p4oet
